This gem was recommended to me by friends that had been there a few weeks ago! Small "Cheers" type bar with cheap drinks! We were able to cheer the Dallas Cowboys without jeers! Loved the Canada patrons that played God Bless America on the jutebox! Great to meet Jimmy too!!

We have places like this at home, if you're from Cardiff you could describe it as you would the Borough, a long thin bar, a bit grubby but full of character. $9 for 3 bottles of Miller Lite, $12 with the tip, barman was attentive but not chatty as he was too busy, but we didn't go in to speak... Very narrow with seating in the back area and bar at the front. No nonsense kind of place with a mixture of locals and visitors. More of a 'real' feel than most of the other establishments close by. Old photographs varnished onto the bar are interesting and allude to times gone by..

It's right opposite Sephora, a little hole in the wall that serves IPA for $4. It can get pretty crowded and there's a shortage of places to sit, but people who frequent are nice and generally work in NYC.

I mean that in the most positive sense. It's dark and Kinda hidden, not a place I would venture into Without knowing someone but I did. it was fun, mostly because of Bill. What a sweet treat. He is the charm that makes it happen. Reminds me of the Tavern in North Beach in San Francisco.

My wife and I found this place last year thanks to TA. I was surprised by the beer prices as they are a great value, especially in NYC. Our bartender was a transplant from the west coast and she offered up great conversation. We are headed back and I can only hope the vibe is still the same. Jimmy was... More

I visited Jimmy's corner with my husband as he is a big boxing fan. The bar is very small and when we arrived it was quite busy. We asked for 2 cokes & got a reply "$6". No please/ thank you / where are you from etc etc. We then sat at the back on a round table, after about... More

Staying at the Mela Hotel, we were looking for a bar to have a drink without paying silly prices, and stumbled over Jimmy's Bar, very small, friendly and welcoming, staff remembered us each time we went in.

If you like boxing this is the place to come. It's like something out of a Rocky movie. A great no thrills bar with dirt cheap drinks, great laid back atmosphere and the walls are filled with boxing photos. This is just how I expected a typical New York dive bar to look.

I love this place, and have done for a decade. Jimmy and his wife are pretty surly, as are many of the bar staff, but it's in the character of the place, and they can be pretty nice when it counts. I was going through a horrible immigration case when I first started coming here, and it was a great... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
