I was staying overnight at the Thunderbird Lodge, so the cafeteria next door was convenient. It is open 7 AM to 9 PM. I had dinner there around 7:30 PM after driving the south rim. Restaurant is retro-style. I found that appealing. Food is served cafeteria style - I went with the chicken fried steak. With drink, meal totaled about... More

The sign of a good restaurant, the food smells good, the staff is friendly and hard working. Theutton stew and fry bread, authentic and yummy! They were doing some deep cleaning and we appreciate the effort. The accommodations were quiet, clean and comfortable. They called when I left an item behind. Highly recommend Thunderbird in canyon de chelley.

Perhaps because it was fairly late, the food seemed like it had been sitting for a while. Our server was somewhat disorganized, giving one of us a fairly smaller portion of the ribs we requested, only because her roast pan was empty. She had a full pan still in the kitchen so no excuse for that. She also gave the... More

The food is good basic food. The cafeteria food in the pans is not so good. The prices are reasonable and the location is fairly remote.

The pickings for food in Chinle are very limited. If you look at the reviews of other TA contributors, you will see the problems in vivid detail. We chose to accept the obvious and simply decided to stay close to the Lodge. That decision left us with the cafeteria! My wife and I are not great fans of buffets, food... More

Large portions at reasonable prices. Our group loved the Navajo taco and fry bread. The mutton, not so much. Breakfast was good, with omelets made to order, biscuits and fresh fruit salad. Efficient and pleasant. We noticed many locals stopping there on the way to work. Highly recommended!

Out of state workers for IHS my spouse and I frequented cafeteria because of the wonderful strawberry cake, in/out hot food, nice atmosphere, native style, and friendly staff. Enjoyed short drive down through canyon. Recommend to travelers and sight seerers.

The cafeteria run by the Navajo family that owns the lodge offers some traditional Navajo dishes (including terrific flat bread) at very reasonable prices.

This cafeteria is a must! Order from the menu on the wall for wonderful cooked to order items! The Navajo burger is incredible! Great to split between two people, as it's two burgers side by side between delicious fry bread. The Navajo tacos also are delicious! Can't wait to try the blue corn pancakes in the morning!

Great place to get an omelet for breakfast! We stayed at the lodge so it was a logical choice. Blue corn pancakes and ham and cheese 3 egg omelet for $7.50. Our 2 1/2 year old had a melt down and people either ignored him or spoke kindly to him to calm him down leaving me feeling ok with the... More
