Very good Japanese food. Sushi, sashimi, you name it - it's all good. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Very busy so make sure you book a table before you go.

I love sushi! Rolls, sashimi, nigiri, etc... and I'm not picky. BUT OMG Sushi Ota is probably the most authentic japanese style sushi place Ive been to, and its in a strip mall! Do not turn away based on location (by a 7-11). Ive been there and had just maki and a seaweed salad... but i also have gone and... More

On a layover in San Diego went to Sushi Ota. I don't recall having better sushi in all my 65+ years. My chef Kazuo was so adapt, his presentation flawless, the ever so fresh netta expertly sliced the rice perfection. Definitely returning for sashimi when I get back to SD in a week.

It was good. Rolls were very good. Worth the really hefty price tag? That's debatable. With several economy sushi places in San Diego that are really fantastic, I was a bit disappointed by this one. For the difference in price I wanted to be like : "oh my god! this is soooooooo good, and sooooo much better than the other... More

Best sushi in town. Just like the sushi served in Japan. I recommend sitting at the bar so you can watch the preparation of these delicacies. Very expensive, but we'll worth the cost.

Don't try to get in here without a reservation. I've been eating here for many years and live locally. This place is a very Japaneses traditional restaurant. Food is excellent. Service is good, could be more pleasant hostesses and servers. You get first rate sushi and a good price. Try this place first, if you can get in.

Been going here since 1994, i dont think i ever had a bad experience (except maybe with a 7-11 meth head in the back parking lot). I bring friends from Japan here when they are on their way back home (its right off Hwy 5) so they can detox from steaks and burgers. this place is a well kept secret... More

Everything you have heard is true. This place is amazing! I'm a sushi snob and this place is hands down top 3 in San Diego. Great lunch specials. If you go for dinner, make sure you make a reservation because it is always busy.

This place is expensive but great sushi should cost you. This is not a place for cheap happy hour sushi rolls and beers, they make beautiful food here. Save your money and go!
