The Taj is an elegant hotel in downtown Boston situated next to a lovely green park. Within the Taj there is a special room called the French room where formal teas are held. I brought my very hard working niece here as a well deserved...More

There is a reason that the 4-5 other afternoon teas in Boston are booked weeks in advance and the Taj was not. Understaffed, tables remain uncleared well after guests departed. Pastries were stale. Service begrudging and slow. Server mixed up order. Had to follow him...More

The management brags about the Indian food at the Taj as being the best in Boston! Unfortunately, there were very few options to order Indian food on the menu. My husband and I love Indian food and have several close friends who are Indian (...More

The afternoon tea at the Taj is pricy as you expect a posh afternoon tea to be, but it was really worth it to celebrate a special occasion. Service was outstanding, food and tea were great, ambiance was amazing, very fancy. We even got a...More

The best tea in Boston, hands down. Great service and overall experience. The royale tea service is worth it and starts off with a glass of prosecco. The white strawberry champagne tea is perfection and so delicious with the canapés and treats. You won't be...More

This is high end Indian plus New England local favorites. This is a fancy restaurant adjacent to Boston Commons. The service was wayyyyy too slow for lunch on a weekday; I noticed that the other patrons did not fare any better. At this price point,...More

My husband took me here for the afternoon tea as a special date and I really enjoyed it. The decor and atmosphere is by far the reason to come here. Everything is sumptuous and beautiful, from the golden accents to the live classical guitar music....More

There are two seatings for tea: 1pm and 3pm. They typically expect you to take just under two hours for your tea. I would say the room is open 12:30 to 5:00.

Taking Afternoon Tea in this elegant chandeliered and mirrored setting with opulently draped windows overlooking fashionable Newbury Street is a Boston tradition. A harpist plays and a sense of gracious conviviality prevails, while guests sip their tea amidst original paintings, sculptures, high-backed upholstered chairs and inviting sofas.
