The best tea in Boston, hands down. Great service and overall experience. The royale tea service is worth it and starts off with a glass of prosecco. The white strawberry champagne tea is perfection and so delicious with the canapés and treats. You won't be sorry!!

Having lived in the U.K. for 7 years and returning regularly after my stay, I can safely say I know a thing or 2 about scones and afternoon tea. This was our first afternoon tea in the US and whilst it was not strictly English it was most enjoyable. The French room is a long and narrow space but delightful... More

I took my mom to tea at the Taj Hotel. We had a lovely time. I thought it would be a special thing for us to do. The tea was wonderful and the tea sandwiches and pastries were good. The price is a bit expensive for what you get, but you're paying more for the Taj name and location. Still,... More

This is high end Indian plus New England local favorites. This is a fancy restaurant adjacent to Boston Commons. The service was wayyyyy too slow for lunch on a weekday; I noticed that the other patrons did not fare any better. At this price point, servers should have an idea whether to speed up or slow down service based on... More

My husband took me here for the afternoon tea as a special date and I really enjoyed it. The decor and atmosphere is by far the reason to come here. Everything is sumptuous and beautiful, from the golden accents to the live classical guitar music. As others have pointed out, it is very expensive, and I think expectations are high... More

Overpriced and somewhat dated. Would have expected more. Location is good but felt there is a lot more for a lot less close to the hotel.

We made reservations for high tea on Saturday at 1:00. The hotel called that morning to confirm we had 4 guests. (They charge your credit card if you do not show up.) Since it was a special occasion, they noted it during our phone call. I have been to high tea at L'Espalier on Boylston many times and I have... More

I was concerned after reading mixed reviews for the Afternoon tea on OpenTable. Unfortunately, the comments about poor service were relevant. Our seating was less than half filled and service was appallingly absent. The waiter only came over twice during the entire 1.5 hrs and of course again with the bill. I needed to hail him to refill my teapot.... More

Tea at the Taj is a lovely experience and a great place to celebrate a birthday or other occasion. The tea sandwiches were lovely and delicious. The scones and mini desserts were an elegant treat. The service was excellent and the classical guitar music made the afternoon complete. It's an extravagance but memorable.

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
