Stopped at Modern Pastry for breakfast, after walking by it a few times. Pastries were delicious. Hate to admit that my husband & I had a cream puff and cannoli for breakfast. They were too good to pass up. Besides, that’s what you do on...More

The place is packed with people and the staff are running around like crazy. It's a fun place to visit and the best part is biting in to the amazing cannolis.

Wonderful bakery. I ordered a cake for my girlfriends surprise birthday for 30 people. I called on Sunday morning before the party to change the type of cake I ordered. This Bakery's cakes are so fresh that they hadn't started cooking it yet. Everything is...More

We went Saturday night after a nice Italian dinner in the North end of Boston. Modern Pastry was jam packed with people all evening long. We had to wait in a long line to get a pastry but it was well worth it. I would...More

Had to eat a cannoli- we were told to go here especially after seeing the crazy line at Mikes It was an extravaganza for the eyes. Our cannolis were yummy and my daughter loved her fruit tart!

We tried three North End Bakeries on this trip and liked Modern the best. They have many of the bakery staples that Mike's has, but also have a wider variety of "fancy" items and more chocolate choices. My favorite was the amaretto cherry "thing". OMG...More

Best pastries, nicest counter help, and sit down-service, if you want it. Grab a cannoli and head down to Christopher Columbus Park to watch the boats, or just wander through the North End. Great variety, luscious looking (and tasting) goodies! Go here instead of the...More

North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like
being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and
Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants,
bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part
in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or
Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma
sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s
home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church
