The pastries are amazing!!! My favorite, the sfogliatelle, can't be beat!!! They are my all time favorite pastry. (hint, If I am buying a selection for a dinner, I always buy a sfogliatelle for myself, that I don't have to share 😊💕. Modern makes the best!!!!!!!!!!

Had two eggs, fruit plate (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, melon, and blackberries), and tiramisu. Excellent way to get my espresso, protein and fruit without the usual cereal. Wonderful service and interesting clientele. Ate there two days of our three-day visit.

I moved the fresh cannoli. They have a good variety of stuff to chose from. It’s says cash only so make sure to have some when you go

First off - I am a Modern fan. Their pastries are amazing and you will wait in line for them. Cannolis are hand filled to order. While the sit down breakfast (can have table service in the basement) tasted great, it was very, very slow....More

So there is an old saying in Boston... "Tourists eat at Mike's, and locals eat at Modern". Modern Pastry is not only my favorite bakery in Boston, but my favorite bakery period! The best cannoli's hands down. They offer several varieties but the yellow (custard)...More

I don't know why I fall for these things. I should know better. Each town seems to have some 'iconic' shop that you absolutely have to visit. In Boston it's Mikes Pastry shop or Modern Pastry. I went to both and they're both good. But...More

A must anytime you’re in Boston. Reasonably priced heavenly Italian and other worldly treats. Can vouch for cannoli, ganache and eclairs but assume everything else is just as yummy. Small cafe but most take it out. 20 minute queue on Saturday was sure sign locals...More

We stooped in for a cannoli after a terrific Italian meal. The cannoli is homemade and is very good. They are made fresh and can be filled with traditional ricotta, vanilla or chocolate custard. They come plain, dipped in chocolate or coated in chocolate. We...More

Darn Italians already know how to make some great pastries but making a pastry that looks like a lobster tail that’s filled with a rich creamy filling that no tourist can resist is just wrong but sooo good. The breakfast sandwich and coffee at least...More

North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like
being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and
Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants,
bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part
in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or
Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma
sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s
home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church
