Called into the Side Bar for an opportunity to sample the local brews. Good to see a line of bar stool and tables. Buzzy but not overcrowded. Had the Sam Adams lager and it was good.... Went back for second visit and had a pitcher of Bud Light $7!!! In a city - wow

A group of us from the downtown hostel were out on a Friday night pub crawl so we made a stop into this inexpensive neighborhood bar. It was a tight fit with our group adding to an already crowded place. Beers were cheap and the floor a bit sticky. Finally I had to head back outside for some air before... More

We actually wanted to have dinner here our first night in Boston since we had spent the day travelling, but they were closed for a private party. Coming back from dinner, we stopped in for a glass of wine. Very extensive wine list with some good options. Bartender was very informative about places to find good food in Boston. Several... More

We wandered into this bar after a long day of sightseeing and were pleasantly surprised to find good value and friendly service. The bartender seemed to enjoy his job and was familiar with a few locals as well as friendly to the tourists. The ambiance was good and patrons seemed content and comfortable. We will wander in here again!

Pizza is good, chili OK. Normal selection of beer. It's name is accurate - a bar on a side street - nothing fancy.

We enjoyed our food here, good portion size and very tasty. You have to go up to the bar to order which we didn't realise at first as lots of bars in the US were table service, but someone helpfully told us else we would've been waiting a while!

Stopped by with my spouse after an extensive shopping trip throughout Boston and really appreciated the ice cold pitcher of beer and good snacks to go with it. The restaurant is small and can be a bit tight, but that also creates a nice atmosphere. The layout is long and narrow so room for tables is limited. A long bar... More

Convenient, located in Sheraton hotel. Menu options are limited but had a great lobster roll. So many choices in area, would probably go outside next time.

To tell you the truth what made me go in this bar was the sign that said $2 drafts and $7 pitchers of Bud and Bud Lights, Boston can be expensive to drink in( and likes my drink). I was in Boston for 4 days and I visited the Side Bar 4 times, If I lived in Boston I would... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
