A friend recommended this place a few years ago. It' the first place I have dinner when I get in town. The weeknights are less crowded and more locale, especially at the bar after work. Food great and rock solid.

We walked over to the North end to grab lunch prior to going to the Bruins game. It was before 12:00 so many of the Hanover St restaurants weren't open yet. Assaggio was just off Hanover and looked good to us so we decided to give it a try. We ordered calamari, gnocchi, veal parm and blackened chicken pomodoro. All... More

My husband and I took our two girls, ages 8 & 9, to Boston for a quick getaway. I had done some research ahead of time about the top places to eat in the North End, and was concerned we'd be waiting in line for hours with cranky kids out in the cold. A lot of the popular spots do... More

We went to Boston for a Bruins game a bit early so we headed to North End for dinner. Assaggio was a great find. The small cozy atmosphere, good service, and a delicious meal will absolutely lead to a return visit. I had their Pollo all' Assaggio; chicken stuffed with prosciutto and provolone topped with a mushroom cream sauce. I... More

One of the very many Italian restaurants in the Boston North End. Great place to have a good Italian meal and enjoy an evening with friends., You can't go wrong here.

I have eaten at Assaggio many times and was always pleased. On a trip to Boston with my wife I wanted her to enjoy a nice Italian meal at Assaggio. Unfortunately on this occasion we were very disappointed. Both of us opted for the Lemon Shrimp over linguini. The shrimp was way over-cooked and were therefore very chewy. The bar... More

We looked for a restaurant off the main drags in Little Italy and came across Assaggio. The food was good and the service was excellent, given that there was only one other couple in the restaurant at the time. It is a local restaurant/bar; and sitting in the dining room, you get a feel for what the Italian section of... More

This restaurant is very small and cozy. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner or special occasion. I highly recommend this place for a couples night out. The lasagne was the best I've ever eaten. The prices are very reasonable and the service was very good. I think there may be an additional dining area in the basement. If... More

Came here for lunch, it was very quiet. Enjoyed the ambiance and the lobster ravioli. The food was good but not extraordinary. Overpriced. The service was terrible, our waitress spent most of the time hanging out at the bar on her phone.

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
