What a great location, right in the heart of Little Italy! We hosted a private event for 18 Sales Professionals in La Terrazza room, Everyone fit comfortably. The cuisine is by far the finest anyone in our group had ever had. Buffalo Mozzarella flown in from Italy, Rabbit from Vermont, the oysters were delicious. A favorite from our group was... More

Located in Boston's North end, Mamma Maria is probably one of the top restaurants in the area. Excellent menu, very attentive staff, excellent wine makes this romantic spot a real winner. I'd go so far as to say its my favorite in Boston over higher priced restaurants. Try the Osso Buco or the scallops.

We really enjoyed the casual ambiance and great food at Mamma Maria. We just dropped in and sat at the bar without a reservation. Great wine recommendations and loved the renowned osso bucco!

Real, authentic Italian food (and not a pizza in sight, just like it should be!) Tasty primi platti and secondi platti followed by fabulous Italian deserts. A very special wine list too - including some incredible Barolo if you are looking for a treat. Located in a beautiful area of the North End (that somehow feels more like a back... More

As our first time in Boston, we wanted to try local eateries and had heard great things about this place. My mom and I came here with a reservation for 8:15 PM and were greeted with a very hostile hostess. As we were a few minutes early, she told us that we could wait outside until our table was ready.... More

Superb Italian restaurant, professional service in a Boston townhouse. Anything on this menu is well chosen, fresh, tried and true.

So, yeah, it's a bit more expensive than some other places. Not for nothing is this place on my Top10 Italian list. The arugula salad was wonderful, just slightly warmed. The lobster ravioli (I had the entree version of the offered appetizer) were FABULOUS... Hearty, lots of lobster, covered with lightly cooked mushrooms and veggies. Fabulous. The peach tarte was... Wonderful meal with attentive service for our family of four. The space is a converted old house so the rooms felt a bit confined, but it added to the sense of formality for the meal. Not that you can't stroll in wearing a pair of jeans, but the one guy in flip flops looked out of place. The menu was... More

Excellent service and excellent presentation of delightful dishes. Had a great Italian wine selection and a good cocktail selection. Ask to sit in the front room that has a buzz to it, rather than the back room that is much quieter and mellow.

Exquisite food, warm and professional staff, great atmosphere. Can't sing enough high praises...got in without reservation, they take credit cards (a plus in the North End Italian restaurants). Our wait staff could not have been more helpful, classy, just the right touch and helpful with food and wine. FOODIES! You will love this place....I would have gone twice in our... More

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
