We went here for a romantic dinner and found it to be quiet and very nice. The food was very good. We had the gnocchi and the gnudi. We had never had gnudi before. It is a kind of gnocchi made with ricotta cheese. They...More

I will definitely be back - perhaps successful in asking that they make me the gnocchi dish but with the gnudi instead. Hmmmm... I'd never had gnudi before as I tend to seek out gnocchi whenever I am in the big city, be it Boston...More

I agree with the other reviews. I’ve eaten a lot of Italian food at very good restaurants this year, including 2 weeks in Italy. The food at Grotto was as good as any and better than most. The dishes we had included the pumpkin risotto,...More

Grotto is my mom's favorite restaurant in Boston, so we make it a point to dine here every time she visits. We last visited on Monday, October 16. Ambiance: Grotto occupies an intimate space below street level - maybe 12-14 tables in the whole place....More

The food was very good as were the prices! I got the Carozza as an appetizer (Pan toasted buffalo mozzarella, Baby spinach, Black olives, Small tomatoes, Peppers, Caper berry), the Fra Diavolo as a main course (Butter poached lobster, Linguine, Spicy tomato sauce) and the...More

Food is good but the girl in charge of our table was a mess. She forgot our command twice and we had to wait 3 min for the second dish even when we told her that we were on a rush.

First meal in Boston after a long travel day. Near our hotel. Food was delicious! Interesting setting below the sidewalk.

This is a hidden gem. Sub-terrain but subpar food. I had the garlic soup and the scallop ravioli which was absolutely amazing and worthy of 5 stars. However, the service was so so. We were not proactively greeted and we watched guest after guest be...More

Once you walk down the stairs to this very romantic intimate locale you will be blown away by the service, THEN comes amazing food. This is one neighborhood restaurant is wish I could keep coming to.

It was good food, quiet and quaint. Everything was made to order , fresh with homemade pasta. Fresh bread and good selection of wine.

The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with
historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through
one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston
Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling
statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the
pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where,
during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting
children and eager tourists through the pond. Have

It is a couple of miles. I would take the Green Line on the T from one of the hospital stops to Boylston. It is a short walk from there.

Some on street parking is available in evenings and weekend....and there are a number of garages around that are reasonable for evening rates (i.e. $13.00 after 6pm).
