Made a reservation the last day of restaurant week, 2017. Heard a lot about the restaurant, and have been at other Barbara Lynch restaurants, but never dined here. Overall, a very nice experience. Restaurant was busy but service was attentive and accommodating. Liked their restaurant week menu, basically letting one choose off of their regular menu. The food was quite... More

The Butcher Shop offers a fabulous weekend lunch in the South End. The atmosphere is great. The service is great. The bartender was helpful and available, without being overbearing. My friend and I stopped in for a quick bite before going to the Boston Ballet. We both had great wines. We shared several charcuterie items including cows milk and goats... More

The only challenge is finding a table as the restaurant is small Very hip little spot in the south -end. The food is fantastic. They have great cold cuts and cheese too. and a very good wine list. Service is always impeccable. The place is also good just for nibbles of cold cuts, cheeses and some wine tasting. Highly recommended

We just wanted a bottle of nice wine after dinner and stopped by the Butcher Shop. Wine list is very expensive and they didn't have our first 2 choices. then we were pretty much ignored from opening the bottle - many other choices where everyone is nicer.

I really wanted to LOVE The Butcher Shop, but I left with such a bad taste in my mouth. We chose to go here to celebrate my husband's birthday, casual atmosphere with great food. I knew the prices were high, but was fine paying top price for a quality meal. The charcuterie board was good - the only reason I... More

We stopped in for a pre dinner drink and snack on a slow Thursday night in November. We were not sure what to order, so a member of our party asked the waitress to bring us a sampling of meats and cheeses for the four of us. She brought out a three foot wooden plank full of meats and a... More

Friday night 8pm reservation. Table not ready, ok so we wait in their "herding area", a large butcher block like table where they serve you drinks and meat/cheese plates to mollify you. Great upbeat danceable music playing. Fun for a while. You finish your drink and food and wait. 8:45pm we're seated. 2 feet from where we were standing. Now... More

We recently tried this spot since we love B&G Oysters nearby (owned by the same restaurant group). Very cozy neighborhood feel. They have bar seating with no reservation. Advise to make reservation if you don't want to sit at the bar. The food was delicious and filling for small portions. Laid back atmosphere with way above average food and wine.... More

We chose here for our stay in Boston based on reviews and it being the sort of food and atmosphere we love. We had a fun evening but would have preferred a better space for a pre dinner drink other than standing around a "butcher's block" and whilst the food was good we have had much better for less money.... Staying in South End

Neighbourhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
