When I say "the best" I do not mean "the finest" or the "most e pensive" because I take into consideration several ctieria and I'm trying to find the highest rate while combining my tastes and offered prices. I went solo to B&G Oysters. I tried all the types of oysters and all the white wines by the glace they... More

I wasn't prepared for this atmosphere. But so glad we went. We looked at the menu online and were prepared to make this our more expensive evening. But than we were seated at the bar slash kitchen. Very crowded. In the end it was great.

Our group of 10 was promptly seated on time at a large oval table by a window. The service, food and wine were top notch from start to finish. Our server patiently & expertly handled our many questions about the oyster offerings, wine pairings and menu. Everyone was happy with their meal: the raw oysters were fresh and delicious, the... If you are looking for the freshest seafood in a layed back and cool spot, a tucked away jewel and local fav for years. We had made open table reservations a week before, only spot was 11:45am. We end up being the only guests till 12:30, was annoyed they blocked that many spaces but hey, the food was outstanding. We... More

Excellent food, excellent oysters, and excellent service. I went to B&G for a late lunch which made it easy to get a seat at the bar but I've heard it can be busy at night. I sampled a few different types of oysters and had the lobster roll. I will definitely return when in Boston again.

Was here for brunch on a beautiful Sunday - and they made the afternoon great. The service was terrific - Hilary could not have been more knowledgeable about the Oysters - it was like listening to a wine steward! And - we had a vegan in our group and she was exceptionally helpful in choosing a meal for him. The... More

Barbara Lynch's B&G Oysters is a cozy bistro in something akin to an English basement. It's a comfortable space with excellent service, inviting ambiance, a great wine list and exquisite food. As the name implies, the focus here is seafood and especially oysters. On any given day, there are six to ten types of oysters available, along with an array... More

My wife and I stumbled upon this small bustling seafood spot after walking tremont street and we will definitely return. The food was great, briny and crisp oysters to start, followed by lobster risotto that was rich and creamy but balanced with shallots and celery and my wife had bass that was perfectly cooked with crunchy gnocchi and sweet potato... This is a relatively small restaurant and it is busy and loud. It came very highly recommended by some locals. However, I found the servings small and over priced. We arrived at the end of the evening and some of the food was a bit dried out. I guess it is THE place for raw oysters as others in the... More

Food was very fresh. Preparations were okay. Overall salmon good, the cod was average. Small portions for $32.00. Place was crowded so maybe it was us. Oh yeah, the fresh oysters were great! Guess we should have stopped there.

Staying in South End

Neighbourhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
