Super good! Creamy but not thick, NE clam chowder. Great herbs and spices make this some really good chowder!

While visiting Boston for the first time with my husband and a grandchild I was anxious to try a famed lobster roll. There are many places in the market that sell them but to me seeing a crowd is usually a good sign. I ordered 2 lobster rolls which comes with a can of soda and 25 cent bag of... More

We went to Faneuil market on our way from Boston to Vermont. We were just looking around and I saw this little place which looked busy and cozy. I couldn't have been happier with our choice. We repeated the lobster roll because it was that good! The bisque and their steamers were also excellent. It is a small place but... More

We visited on a very busy Saturday and were lucky enough to get a seat. The staff were efficient, friendly and chatty and the chowder was great. There's a few other places in the market and in the surrounding area to get chowder but this served in the bread roll was our favourite and reasonably priced too.

My friend and I visited this place last week. My friend was especially hungry and hankering after a fish supper. She ordered the fisherman's platter ($15.99) and out came a heaped plate of calamari, scallops and white fish with a mountain of fries in record time. I tasted the scallops and they small, sweet and delicious. My friend is an... More

Have had the pleasure of knowing the owner of this establishment. Erica...the owner was my roomie in college. She has owned and operated this establishment after purchasing it from her mother who was the original owner. The favorite of mine is the cowda on a bread bowl but you can't lose with anything on this menu.

Awesome clam chowder in a bread bowl. You cannot go wrong here. The staff was most friendly and the food was outstanding. Highly recommended when at Quincy.

We've eaten at Walrus & Carpenter numerous times over the years. I have always ordered the clam chowder in a bread bowl. I think recently the quality of the chowder has gone down as there seems to be more and more potato and less and less clam. The atmosphere is very crammed around the counter. On nice weekends it is... More

Those were some really good oysters! Had some blue points and other locals. The soup looked great! Stop here and eat fresh seafood!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
