Had an early dinner with another couple. Seated right away, great table overlooking Washington Street. Plenty of space between the tables, and the server was right there as soon as we were seated. Very helpful helping us choose wines and dinner. We tried the tapas which were amazing, especially for the price ($15), with lamb, spring roll and fish -... More

Enjoyed a very nice birthday dinner at Blu. Service was quick and friendly. The menu had plenty of options for apps and entrees. The Barbados Old Fashioned from the bar was delicious. It's a small place so I would recommend making a reservation. You will be impressed when you sit down and see the view.

Went for Boston Dine Out. Only one person had option and enjoyed but not especially impressed. No vegetarian option on Dine Out at all so had to order a la carte menu. Vegetarian dish was okay but not very exciting. Two others had burgers which were dry and expensive. The brioche buns seemed old too. Two had desserts, both good.... More

We had a one pm reservation for lunch. We literally had to locate the hostess to be seated. The restaurant was nearly empty and there were numbers of staff flitting about making no attempt to help. We were seated in a terrific room overlooking part of the city. It was evident within minutes or server was being inconvenienced by our... More

We had tickets to the Opera House, so we picked blu because of its location. Service was excellent. Food was wonderful. Good selection of entrees. On the smaller, more quaint, size, so get a reservation. Does have window seating that one could look out onto Washington Street. Was somewhat difficult to find as there is NO sign outside that we... Our meal was very mediocre and blah. Everything was the same color and texture. The restaurant has gone downhill since our last visit. Would not give it another chance.

This has been our default restaurant when going to theater or event in Boston near Tremont street. It's never busy (you have to find it upstairs), and the food is consistently good. Although I book a table, we usually end up in the bar with a very helpful bar tender! Cocktails are interesting, service is fast. It's not cheap but... More

My colleague and I took our beloved traveling executive from the West Coast to Blu for dinner recently and it was a hit. We ordered two appetizers that came out perfect. For the main course, my seafood stew was quite flavorful while my colleague's grilled swordfish was "three times better" than a famous place down the street according to the... More

We ate here for dinner, stayed at the Ritz Carlton next door (actually adjacent) and went to An America in Paris at the Wang right after. Great location for any theater district show, all walking distance. We were there October 29th (Saturday before Halloween) so crowds outside were in costume and fun atmosphere! I had delicious swordfish with lobster mashed... More

We had many, many options for dinner but choose Blu. We are glad we did. The food was awesome, the atmosphere was perfect and the view was outstanding. We would go back in a heartbeat. We love everything about it. Also very reasonable which makes it even better.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
