We had the poutine (basically french fries with gravy with a few curds of ricotta salata. The burger was good, and my daughter had a corn cake covered with pulled pork that was delicious. I wish the steak was available which is why I had in mind when I decided to go there for dinner. We were looking for a... More

As a new yorker, i'm always looking for a good place to brunch. As a guest in Boston, I was lucky to stumble into The Gallows (featured in the NY times, 36 hours in Boston). Every brunch item was a hit, from my 9 year old to their 70 year old grandma. Burgers, short stacks, korean chicken wings, corned beef... More

Our party of 5 turned up during a snowstorm on a Sunday for a late Brunch and the place was busy, which just shows how good it is. We waited around 15 minutes for our table to be ready, the table itself was slightly cramped but the rest of them for more regular group numbers seemed fine. The menu is... More

Like the title says, the Bloody Mary was excellent... but really, it stopped right there. All but one of our meals I would describe as a hearty "mediocre" which is a serious disappointment when you put a $20 tag on a burger. Stale fries that have been obviously sitting, which would probably have been excellent summed up the meal. While... More

This is an adorable restaurant bar in the South End, we came here after a dinner, a close walk for a drink. The bartender was SUPER friendly and attentive. You could tell she knew how to make a drink and was the kindest. It was a nice area to enjoy a cocktail with our group and we would definitely come... More

Nice burger place, various types of burgers. Interesting cocktails. Went there for lunch, pretty crowded and tables a little close together. Service was good. Started with chicken wings and fries with poutin, very good, Burgers were excellent!

The food is very good here, but dropping a star because of the insanely horrible front end / hostess service/policies. Knowing they don't take reservations for groups smaller than 6, I showed up early for my group of 4 to put my name on the list and hang around so my other guests wouldn't have to wait as long. I... Very accessible location with ample street parking on the weekend. Best corn-beef hash ever. Added sunrise delight, they have doughnuts from the Blackbird Bakery on Tremont Street - 'Hello'. Our first time. Will return soon. Wonderful!

A modern restaurant with great atmosphere with very friendly and helpful staff. Burgers were great, with a bit of a twist for a different eating experience. They were very accommodating with making changes to the burgers on the menu.

The veggie poutine was wonderful but the veg burger was rather bland. The burger sits on a bed of red chillies, it would be great if some of these were chopped and added into the burger to give it some flavour. The setting itself is nice and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Thank Jamie J

Staying in South End

Neighbourhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
