Server had too many tables so really good service was not possible. Server was good but over-committed. This to me is a management issue. Server was friendly and informative. Mixed on the food. Wife and I had a cup of poblano chicken chowder. Excellent! Next was the brisket platter for my wife. She found the BBQ sauce very bland. Meat... More

Had a great time at Wayside. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was delicious. The building is an old railroad depot and pretty neat in its own right.

We met some dear friends here for supper the other night. Because it was Saturday, we met early in case it was very busy. There was a steady stream of people the entire evening but it was never packed. We wanted to catch up on our friends' world, so we ordered appetizers and drinks first (yes, Biltmore wines). Our server... More

Can't tell you how many times I've eaten here in past 4 years!!!! Tonight, steak frites! AWESOME! Plus, homemade coconut cream pie with pecan sandy crust! Extremely friendly staff!!! Ask for River (manager) or Mark (owner) and tell them Steve sent you!!!!!

Tried this for the first time, wanted a casual place with good food. Service was good and friendly. My husband had the Brisket with Cheerwine BBQ sauce, loved it. He liked their beer selection too- mostly featuring a variety of local brews. I tried their Lodge St. Pad Thai - lots of peanutty creaminess. I splurged on a Blackberry-Pear hard... More

Food was ok but we had a service issue. I ordered a specific name brand liquor. I was not served what I ordered. No explanation was given. It was substituted with a more expensive liquor. When I questioned it after initially tasting it - no explanation was given and no opportunity to refuse it was offered. I expect to be... More

We ate here when we got into Asheville before our room was available. I ordered the Super Food Salad with blackened chicken. It was DELICIOUS! The Caesar dressing was fabulous. My husband ordered the burger, and he really enjoyed it. The fresh cut fries were amazing! He enjoyed his beer, and the Tito's & soda I had was well-mixed. We... More

The Wayside is a tiny restaurant with good food. I had a very fresh salad, and my husband liked his BBQ sandwich. The service was a bit slow, but very friendly. It is located right on the railroad tracks in an old railroad depot. The atmosphere is quaint.

So here we were having just arrived in Asheville after a 4 hour drive and looking for a late dinner. Like my title above says, we wanted some place casual, hopefully with no to a minimal wait, but one where we could get a "serious" meal. The Village Wayside more than fit the bill. It was just minutes down the... More
