We passed by Apollo Flame Bistro on our way to the NC Arboretum and it caught our attention. The cafe closed at the arboretum before we could eat and we remembered Apollo. We looked up their menu and wanted to give it a try. We...were traveling with our small dog and they had a pet friendly dining area on an enclosed patio they seated us in, that was very nice. The food was quite good. My husband had the lamb gyro with a side of fries and I had the chicken gyro with a side Greek salad. The pita was freshly made and the chicken was tender, and grilled in seasoning the way I like it, it was perfect. The salad was excellent with everything I like in a Greek salad, and very fresh The Greek dressing was a delicious house dressing, the tzatziki sauce was wonderful too. Our server was very attentive and friendly and provided excellent service. My husband's lamb and french fries were excellent. We took a piece of baklava with us for the road, it was very good.
Our food came quickly which was unexpected and was a nice surprise. The only two things that I can think of that could be improved upon was that since they do have some gluten free offerings, I wish they offered gluten free pita as well (they do have gluten free bread.) And the other thing is that I like my ice tea to be stronger, it was a bit diluted for me. The women's restroom was very attractive and clean. We look forward to returning again and trying more of their dishes. Overall the restaurant had a good number of guests, a great energy, a restaurant that felt loved and cared for by the family that owns it.More
