I am a local and go to Cecilias often. I almost always get two of the Berenja (eggplant) empanadas. Yum! Great every time. Today Ceclia was alone and was still able to serve everyone and get the food out in a timely fashion. The place is casual, comfortable and it feels like she is your Aunt who you are visiting... We're visiting town and wanted to go a bit off the beaten path. Cecilia's is worth the 5 minute drive north from central Asheville. It's a small restaurant run by its friendly owner, Cecelia. She's from Argentina and makes fresh authentic homemade empanadas, tamales and soups, along with crepes (she explained that her husband was French). Everything we ordered was... More

Another small epicurean gem easily overlooked on Merrimon Avenue. The mole sauce is the best I've ever eaten. Both the tamales and empenyada were delicious. Plenty of meat with excellent seasoning. Cordial counter service. This business also include a food truck which I haven't frequented but it's my understanding that the food is the same.

My favorite is the market crepe - it is so delicious!!! The empanadas are great, too, and I love that you can buy them frozen and take them home. If I were hungrier, I would've tried the lentil coconut curry soup. I'm sure it is delicious.

Actually, Cecelia’s Kitchen isn’t hidden, but its tiny location—just north of Ingles on Merrimon Avenue in North Asheville—is easy to miss. And, we missed it for quite some time. This, as we discovered, was a mistake on our part. Cecilia, the Argentinean owner, operates not only this small restaurant, but she also has a food truck as well as another... More

My wife and I stopped in for dinner on our way in from Tennessee to attend a conference. Very glad we did as the Nacatamale, Berenjena empanada and mushroom tamale was simple and very tasty. Finished it off with a delicious, well-crafted sweet, chocolate crepe. Well, we will on coming back here again. Well worth it.

Driving around and looking for a spot Even though it was October, it still was a bit hot Looked this way and that and caught me a sign Said "empanadas" and so I went in to dine. Ok, that wasn't that great. But, the food here is.

Stopped in for brunch today after church. Ordered a crepe and the Cuban sandwich. The waiter was friendly and took our order promptly. 45 minutes later our food was delivered. The food was cooked to perfection. Not sure why it took so long but the visit would have been rated a 5 had the delay not been so long. The... More

Cecilia' always has a nice selection of daily soups. They are rustic with a wonderful depth of flavors. The Nacatamale is wonderful. But all of the tamales that I have had here are excellent. In addition to tamalas and yummy empanadas, Cecilia' also has a great selection of crepes, savory and sweet.

My nacatamal was delicious, and the salad was perfectly fresh and crisp. My husband loved his Cuban sandwich. We even took pork and chicken tamales home for dinner. Authentic, delicious and unpretentious; we will definitely be back.
