It's a 4 because it is a great respite with great reviews IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. We liked the food we got, not great, but good and hearty and we were happy to have it and take a load off after a full morning of hiking. They had a nice porter and we enjoyed nachos and soup. Very nice... More

This restaurant and lodge is awesome. We had such a great meal and we stayed the night here too. LOVED LOVED it. So beautiful, I could have stayed here for a week. The lodge itself needs some upgrades but it's still rustic and nice. The views are just awesome here. The best place to see The Window and get the... More

I decided to take a drive up through the Chisos Mountains while I was in Big Bend National Park. I had spent the morning and most of the afternoon driving to and from Santa Elena Canyon via the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive which is about 45 minutes one way. Of course there were things to see and photograph along the... More

For inside a national park, and with few (or no) other choices, I thought the restaurant was fine. The breakfast buffet was ample with fruit, cereal, oatmeal, grits, meats, eggs; lots of variety. Can't beat the view.

Although we were not staying in the lodge, we had lunch twice in the restaurant after finishing hiking. The food was delicious and the peach tea was very refreshing after a long, hot hike (it was delicious--and the main reason we went back for a second lunch). I had a club sandwich and it was very good...my son raved about... More

Chisos Mtn Lodge is terrific for the views and lodging. The hotel is 1933 vintage but has been upgraded and maintained very well. There is no TV nor Wifi in the rooms, but they are neat and very clean.

We had breakfast twice and dinner once. We had the breakfast buffet both times. Eggs, bacon, good link sausage, potatoes, pancakes the first day and French toast the second. Fresh fruit, cereal, bread, and bagels. Plenty good but you can order off the menu if you want an omelet. Coffee is good and they keep it filled. For dinner we... More

A nice surprise. Ate dinner and breakfast here. Dinner was good. Husband had the porkchop and it was thick, juicy and tender. I had stuffed baked potato which was good. We both had 1 trip to salad bar which includes soup. Salad bar has an excellent selection of the usual salad toppings including artichoke hearts, okra, & beets. There is... More

We ate at the Lodge Restaurant one night during our stay at the Chisos Basin Campground. The menu had a pretty good variety of options including two vegetarian entrees. I had the trout with a pineapple salsa "sauce". The trout was good but I didn't think the salsa enhanced the flavor. It was served with a rice pilaf which was... More

Our particular group used the buffet plan, however there is a menu. The soups were delicious, the dinner-time buffet had a theme- pasta night, taco night, etc. The salad bar was well stocked with a variety of fresh vegetables and protein, and the breakfast had eggs, meats, breads, lots of fresh fruits, and hot and cold cereals. We enjoyed sitting... More
