The food at SPQR was good but the portions were VERY small for the price. Really good menu and lovely wines.

My favorite spot in SF for upscale pasta. Their bucatini "straw and hay" is one of my all-time favorite dishes. I've never had any meal here disappoint. Small space, but good service and a fun ambience. Comparable quality to Carbone in NYC.
We ate here last year and liked it a lot. This time it was warm. There was a lot of traffic by our table. The waitress was knowledgeable but I couldn’t hear her. The wine list was unintelligible to me. Some plates that we shared...More
I went there with two friends for dinner. We were sitting on the chefs counter which gave us a very good overview of the cooking process, I recommend to take the same sit. Everything is done professionally and calm. Desserts are huge, main courses are...More
Been here on numerous occassions, always sat at the Chef's counter, always had good food. Just went back but wasn't entirely pleased with what we had. Maybe the squid ink pasta had run out...but other dishes didn't give us what we were looking for, including...More

This was a much hyped restaurant in SF. Attended with a small group for a business dinner. The menu was short. The waiter didn't have great knowledge about the few things on the menu. The service was slow, and the food was just ok. We...More
The food here is luscious, layered with flavor and texture, and very rich and full. The place is also very full of itself, clearly confident in its reputation to wow. But I found the dishes to be overly rich, too large in portion and so...More
I actually would give SPQR a 3.5 for good but that isn't a choice. Definitely better than average but.....I just expected a little more. Snug and cozy atmosphere was good by us. It is intimate. But on a brisk night cozy was warm. Not too...More
Some new friends and a few faces from the past took me to their neighborhood favorite - SPQR. Friday was a predictably busy evening so the noise level, although not terrible, was bearable. I enjoyed the evening immensely with great service, delicious dishes and our...More
