If you happen to like whiskey or scotch, this should be on your "must visit" list when in San Fransisco. Walking in you will notice an entire wall filled with whiskey and scotches from all over the world. While it can be a little overwhelming, our waiter was able to guide me to some fine Japanese scotch based on my... More

Unfortunately paying more than you should has become a way of life in San Francisco. Somehow Nihon takes that proposition to an entirely different level. As many of the other reviews indicate, Nihon is wildly overpriced, with bottles of Sake starting at $80 (and soaring from there) and most of their whisky "tastes" in the $20-$40 range. The food, while... More

Good atmosphere, cool bar and whiskey display. Great people watching place. The service was ok and so was the food but overall it's eye wateringly over-priced!

This lounge is situated in a not so popular area of San Fran (a couple of blocks away from Tenderloin). The place is quite cool with a large selection of whiskeys and other drinks. Food was good, even though the service left much to be desired. Even though its expected to have music in a whisky bar, I felt that... More

Visited after hearing about this place from friends. Full name was Nihon Whisky Lounge but I think it's s little confused between food or whisky. The whisky range was definitely good by typical bar standards. However expect only the typical popular selections. They had a handful library bottles but those were clearly for display and no single pours available. Food... More

We went there with friends because they have pretty good happy hours deals. They have some meals and drinks on happy hour discount what is a pretty good deal. We didn't know that the beer is not included in HH and we ended up paying $12 for a small light beer. That's totally overpriced. They have great selection of whiskey... More

The best whisky selection in West US for sure! Got to taste Lonach 43!!! Although to taste Lonach 43 cost $70 (it was not listed on the menu) but it was worth every penny! I think it's good to eat first and go to Nihon Whisky Lounge.

Great atmosphere, two levels, awesome whiskey display and certain yummy items, but the maki were lackluster and the service was slow.

Compared to your other options in SF, Nihon has one of the better whiskey selections but pricing is outrageous... especially if you plan on drinking popular Japanese whiskeys or buying a bottle -- highly recommend googling prices and don't trust the bartenders. Food, both sashimi and grilled foods, are only ok.

Interesting menu, not your typical dishes, enjoyed most of them. Huge selection of whiskies and cocktails.. fun bar to hang out at and a quieter loft like space above. Enjoyed our evening, went with a groupon and saved some $$.
