You may pretend that Italians live in New York and Boston...and you may tell me that Italians lived in San Francisco's North Beach.. You might decide to talk about Chinese pastries like the egg tart and mousse cakes.. but what I really want to know...is..have you had these cannolis or berry treats or the Napoleon? I believe you should because Stella's is history and it's a tourist spot. It's not always busy but there might be a table left over around 9pm.. I love CANNOLIS and I LOVE ITALIAN PASTRIES.. OMG! I came from NY and didn't expect such delicious authentic pastries!must have the chocolate raspberry cake. Napolians, and cheese cakes! Walk there, you're gonna need to burn the calories!

After lots of walking found myself here to get a cappuccino but the pastries behind the counter were calling me while locals were buying New Years Eve treats by the box. Had 3 different biscotti, and an apricot danish that were all together worth the...1500 calories they likely entailed. The kitchen is basically open so you can see the bakers at work. Our food tour group made a brief stop into Stella Pastry to pick up a box of cannoli, after hearing from our guide about what makes a good cannoli, and why the ones at Stella were so good: freshness. The cannoli from Stella was delicious,...and now I have some context into how to judge their quality in the future.More

This bakery and café deserves to be the #1 spot in all of bay area. The service are superfriendly and it's a "home feeling" to all of it which I cant put words on. Peaked my head in to the bakers behind the cashier and...I praised them for their work, which they truely seemed to appreciate. The croissants made here are better than any I ever had in continental Europe. The cakes are outstanding - not dry, good variation and lots of filling. They got great coffee too :-)More

Lovely stop for pastries and lattes. Enough tables to eat inside. Really liked my iced latte and Italian cookies. We took pastries to go as well. Great little bakery!

We spend four nights in the mission district and we stumbled on this awesome bakery while we exploring the city. We bought three desserts and took them to the hotel.
