The wife and I grabbed dinner and drinks here on a Monday night. Parking can be tricky, like all of San Francisco, but it is easy to find. The wife ordered the corned beef which was advertised to have the vegetables cooked with the meat,...More

Steven, thanks for joining us at The Chieftain. Feedback of any sort is always welcome and though we certainly regret to hear your visit fell short of expectations, we appreciate you sharing yours. We have live Irish Trad music every Sunday night, but any night...More

Live music on a Saturday evening, and a real neighborhood pub kind-of-ambience. Shut your eyes and the Guinness on tap will transport you to the Emerald Isle. The Shepherd's pie on the menu was delicious. Our barkeep Nathan was expert at managing the busy bar,...More

The Chieftain is a perennial favorite of this local. Possibly the best bar food in town, welcoming Irish staff, cozy atmosphere. Don't miss the chips (fries) with curry sauce. The shepherd's pie is great, too, and Magner's cider served the correct way: over ice. Or...More
