Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Dishes are so-so and the bill should be a no-no. Warning: the restaurant will add a 20% service fee without advanced warning. Somebody needs to tell Nick to provide an honest service. It appears customers are obligated to pay additional fees to cover his employees'...wages.More

I’d suggest avoiding this one! Dismal fish and chips served to takeout with a hefty price tag for what you get. Fish seemed to have cooked then reheated. Fries were soggy. They had the cheek to seek a tip!

We came in here for a clam chowder as we had heard how amazing clam chowder is on Fisherman's Wharf. We ordered clam chowder in a bread bowl ($17) and when we received it and tasted it, it was lukewarm. We tried to call down...the waiter multiple times but were struggling as he kept walking off into the back room and avoiding eye contact with us. It was not a busy period either, there were only us and two other groups inside. Ideally you should check on your guests after they receive their food to make sure everything is ok. After about 5-10 minutes, we got a hold of him and sent it back. He heated it up, by microwave I believe as it came back out on the same plate as before 2 minutes later. The bread was then soggy, the middle of the soup was still cold and it tasted bland. We told them we did not want it after this and left. Save your time and money and go to Pier Market Seafood Restaurant on pier 39. Less expensive and the chowder and fish and chips were great!More

What a fantastic dining experience. We ventured into the rear of the restaurant with a table watching sunset over the trawlers. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. The atmosphere also reflected the history of the restaurant beautifully

Don’t go to this place it’s a highway robbery, service it’s terrible. The ramen is instant ramen plus seafood, garlic fries swimming in butter and comes soggy. Prices are extremely high for below average quality food and absolutely terrible service. Portions of seafood in the...ramen is minimal as well and it’s very clear that it’s instant ramen. Moreover service quality is bad due to waiters forgetting your food, forgetting to write your order down and also constantly forgetting what you ask for (ex. Water)More

This is a fraudulent place. Price inconsistency on the menu and the bill. 20% charge for a group of 4. There is almost a 20% price difference between inside and outside service.

I stopped here after a long morning hike. I ordered the Australian lobster tail with fries, zucchini with a clam chowder. The clam chowder and the service was superb. The size of the lobster tail was impressive but the flavor was bland. Everything else tasted...wonderful but the star of the plate left a lot to be desired. Yes I did enjoy the food and I will visit again.More

Stopped in here because we wanted a 'classic' seafood dining experience, and was really charmed by the old nautical interior (red checked tablecloths, that kind of thing). Had the clam chowder in a bread bowl and the crab louie salad and loved both! This is...definitely not a bougie dining experience, but that wasn't what we were looking for. Cozy, old school, and authentic, plus great crab!More

Nick’s Lighthouse, consistently sumptuous seafood. Tight and cozy yet you always come back for more. They get my steamed whole crab right the way I want it all the time. Crab and lobster bisque... delightful. Their formula/recipe for fried seafood is perfect. Everything on the...menu is mouthwatering. Good place, good service. ThanksMore

Really good food and a rather quaint restaurant. All main courses include a starter of clam chowder or salad. Clam shower excellent and main course of linguine marinera superb. Hubby had scallops which were wonderful.

Been here three times in the past year and always try and visit when in San Fran. Seafood is great - have it sautéd rather than deep fried as the batter is a bit heavy. Service is friendly - it’s a great American diner with...food that feels and tastes really fresh.More

Nicks is located right in Fisherman's Wharf area and was close to our hotel, we ate there the first night of our visit and because it was so good we decided to return there on our next two night. Seafood was of course a specialty...and did not disappoint, the menu was varied, Service was excellent but most of all the food was some of the best ever. the restaurant is in the back area of a sidewalk eatery along Taylor Street, nothing fancy but very charming and quaint. Eating here felt like being part of one big family.More

We of course had to get some crab and crab food items from the fisherman‘s wharf here in San Francisco. I had to get a crab here and a salad of course. It’s all about balance. My friend got the crabcakes. They will give you...this thick white bread to go with your seafood. The crab is good and my friend liked and enjoyed her crabcakes too.More

We should have read the reviews. Outside display looked nice and staff were interested but a different story inside. We only wanted something light to eat and maybe they were not too pleased with that. Kept asking if we wanted more to drink, didn't seem...interested if we were enjoying the food. Definitely better places to eat in the area so walk on.More

I only saw one menu. You could asked the server for any specials they have for that day.
