Typical tourist trap. Beer prices were not mentioned anywhere and for the record they were really expensive. When we asked for the check, they brought us no receipt or any other analysis of what was included in it. Without being told, the tip was automatically charged in the check but there was no way to know. So we left extra... More

How lame is I? I had one of my honeymoon meals at this very average and unremarkable "bistro" that is generic french.

We were walking around looking for food for what felt like forever. Everywhere was booked and busy, this place could seat us straight away. Menu has lots on it, bread and water were topped up regularly, the live music was fabulous. The tables are tiny as are the chairs, the food is ok and comes out fast enough. Nothing to... More

Meh. That is what I say. Seriously, who puts powdered parmesian cheese on a Caesar salad that costs $8.95???? The croutons were obviously from a store bought bag. Inattentive wait staff. Jazz was just ok, the drummer was a rock drummer---we are 2 foodie jazz musicians and this place was a disappointment.

Staying in Union Square and looking for somewhere to go for Dinner. Came across this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. Live Jazz quartet playing with the lead singer giving you the history behind each number- really interesting!! Food was of a good range reasonably priced and quite tasty. There was a nice atmosphere. Watch out for price of wine -... More

First time I have ever rated a dining experience but this was so bad it needs to be mentioned. Restaurant needs a reno -very tired decor. Old doesn't need to be ratty. Service was very slow right from the warm table water, to our warm red wine and especially for our very late meal. Order of kabobs was blue rare.... More

If you want to hear jazz music and enjoy French cuisine, then this jazz cafe is for you. Bill "Doc" Webster and Jazz Nostalgia were incredible entertainers and I really liked the way they performed as if I'm in New Orleans. I even got a copy of their CD. I'll come back again.

The food is French and reasonably good. Try the bouillabaisse for sure. The desserts were disappointingly not fresh- about a day or two old would be my guess.

We went to listen to Charles Unger, and grabbed some wine and a few appetizers. The food is billed as french, and menu contains frog legs and pates, but there is also standard "fried calamari" fare. Music was good, food was average, wine selection is fairly basic, service was average as well.

With good seafood, good service, reasonable prices, and hot jazz, what more could you ask? Les Joulins JazzBistro offers a diverse menu of French influenced dishes and entertainment for the price of dinner and a reasonable contribution to the jazz quartet's tip jar. It's definitely a good place to spend an evening. The bouillabaisse was hearty and filling and worth... More
