A really enjoyable meal in the Italian quarter with good friendly service. We both had pasta and a delicious house wine. Definitely recommend this restaurant

Very tasty risotto, but the experience suffered at the hands of a truly terrible server. He was uncooperative, unsophisticated and unknowledgeable.

We wandered in while touring San Francisco--the staff was very friendly, welcoming and entertaining. Everyone enjoyed their meals-- salad, pizza, pastas, calamari and tiramisu. We highly recommend!

We ate here for old times' sake as we've gone here many times when visiting San Francisco, but this was our last time. There is nothing really wrong here, but for us there was nothing outstanding either, and it lacked something, intimacy, vibe? Hard to say. It might help if they put some candles at the tables and turned down... More

The Minestrone soup was amazing!! The polenta with wild mushrooms was ok towards good. The mushrooms were a bit heavy on the salt, but I still finshed the meal, it was good. The service was good, the old waiter/owner looked and spoke like someone from The Godfather movies. I would go there again.

The food is delicious and authentic. The owner sings! The wait staff are hospitable, knowledgeable, and have authentic Italian accents. In the heart of Little Italy. This is the real deal folks. Mi piace molto!

This Italian has very good service, atmosphere and food. There is a lot of Italian restaurants in this area an we was very satisfied with our decision. As everything else in California it is very high prices. It is just to accept and catch the moments. We had great Carbonara and Lasagna.

Loved the food and location in the heart of North Beach. We loved the food and hospitality at this nice restaurant. We had a small group of people and it was nice that the place was somewhat quiet so we could hear all our conversations. Would go Back again. Thank you.

I've been coming to Pinnochio's for a bit over ten years now - it's my favorite Italian restaurant in the world. It has a real Italian feel, less of the "IT'S A-ME, MARIO" that the nearby Stinking Rose has and more of "here's a great restaurant that Italians would eat at" vibe. There's rarely a line to get in, and... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
