We wandered into the restaurant, fairly late on a Sunday evening in December without a reservation. They allowed us to dine with them, although we suspect they were looking to close a bit early, as only a few tables were occupied and no one showed...More

We were a party of 4 staying at a nearby hotel. The concierge recommended Albona to us. What a find! 4 people with very different food preferences all rated their meals 10/10. It's a small, intimate restaurant with a lovely ambience. The host, Sam, welcomed...More

Easy walking distance from our accommodation at Columbus Motor Inn and very pleasantly surprised by the food and wine quality. Meals not too expensive by San Francisco standards and although not large portions very enjoyable. Service was friendly and efficient and our dining experience was...More

While searching TA for a restaurant in the North Beach neighborhood, I found Albona Ristorante Istriano. My daughter's boyfriend really enjoys finding new and interesting food choices and Meleah and I love Italian food so this was the perfect mix of the two. We had...More

Albona is an interesting place that serves Istriano food -- it is similar to northern Italian, but mixes in some unique flavors. I think most folks who enjoy northern Italian cooking will like it. The restaurant itself is quiet and a bit old school, and...More

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but this gem was excellent! It only held a couple dozen people, so unless you are going early on a weeknight, you'd better get reservations. The food was excellent, and so was the service.

We were directed here by the concierge at the Hotel Zephyr. What an outstanding recommendation! We were a family of 5 who arrived early at the restaurant and were taken care of by the Chef / Owner Sam. We had been traveling up the coast...More

Love this restaurant! What I love about NY is finding delicious authentic restaurants and the same is true in SF here at Albona. High attention to quality and service without the price tag. This is a gem and a welcome relief from tourist trap just...More

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.
