We eat here after a long flight from NY, on our way to Hawaii, and didn't expect much, but the pizza was great, really fresh and tasted great!

For dinner, I needed to balance my vegan lunch with some cheese, and after walking in SF all day, my body craved carbs, fat and salt. Enter Firewood cafe - I had the Mushroom pizza. It was a great choice, came with a good tasting, balanced sauce, just the right amount of cheese, 3 different kinds of mushrooms and caramelized... More

A simple cafe - almost a cafeteria - One orders at the counter and pays, can take drinks to your table, and the order is delivered with silverware when ready. Basic pizzas and sandwiches, well prepared. Also pasta dishes. Small dessert menu - strawberry shortcake was excellent, and very rich. Pleasant large room, well-lit, and not too noisy. A great... We had a wonderful dinner, the ambiance is nice, family friendly. We had pasta and fish. Very tasty! The portions are large so we had more than enough. Go!!

The Castro is not exactly gourmet central, and Firewood easily falls into the category of restaurants that provide well turned-out meals at a decent price. They offer a modest array of pastas and pizzas, and they are usually pretty quick to get a meal to your table. On this visit my guest and I each ordered a pizza. Mine was... More

From the big smiles that greet you when you walk in the door to the super fast efficient and friendly staff the Castro's firewood really puts the mix between quick easy casual food with a sitdown restaurant feel. Well I tend to favor the prosciutto and arugula pizza with Side of roasted butternut squash and. Last night they teased me... More

The honey dijon chicken is great. It's served with fire roasted potatoes. We also tried the chicken Parmigiana served with capellini. We had a side of the Swiss Chard with white beans, and pancetta. Service was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed everything but we felt the food prices are on the high side; but that's San Francisco!

Smelled great walking by, so we tried it, and definitely don't regret it! The salads were huge and very fresh, the Jambalaya spicy enough to be almost like real Cajun, but the tortellini . . . astounding! I had the house tortellini with the white wine cheese sauce. So tender and the sauce, unbelievably good. We will be going back.... More

Didn't expect much from this restaurant in the SFO airport, and I was right. Ordered a margarita pizza which seemed like tomato sauce on some pita bread. Surprised other reviewers think this pass for pizza. At least there was some good, although limited beer options. One beer, and one tiny pizza $24.

We were a bit famished after a 12+ hour flight. I had the tomato basil soup in a bread bowl, my wife a made-to-order pizza. They were both EXCELLENT. Prices were reasonable as well. This is honestly great food anywhere, let alone an airport terminal.
