This place is one of the reasons we wanted to visit SF, and apparently we were not the only ones. Queued on a Sunday morning for 1 hour before coming close to the front door, another half hour inside. People have a hard time choosing...More

My husband and I came here on a weekend visit. We were recommended this place by a friend. I most loved the people watching - there were a lot of locals and variety of styles and backgrounds. The food was very good - we got...More

Perfectly acceptable baked goods but nothing out of the ordinary. Not even a little bit. You can get pastries that are just as good at Starbucks or Peets. Yet people line up 50 deep on weekends for reasons that I can not fathom. Call it...More

Tartine has a reputation for great bread and good treats. The reputation is well deserved. We had bread from the bakery the first night we were in town. It was excellent. The treats in the bakery case are pretty much all good. The coffee is...More

Locals think this is the best bakery in San Francisco. The Latte with croissant - divine. Yes, there are long lines. Be prepared for that. Talk to the people in line with you.

Tartine is one of those places that ALWAYS has a line. You have to wonder if people just like to queue up and chat with friends or if the food/experience is just "worth it." I'm not fond of waiting around just for the heck of...More

The line wasn't too bad the day I visited. Some treats were much better than others. The bread pudding was far too watery due to the peaches and it didn't really last and instead ended up as a mess. There isn't any seating worth speaking...More

Tartine is a real institution, and as such there was no way I was going to travel to San Francisco without trying at least one of their famous sour dough loaves... and I did NOT leave disappointed! Their bread is the stuff of home-baker dreams,...More

Visited the Tartine Bakery on a recent trip to San Francisco. There was a long line but it moved quickly. The food was delish. We had morning buns and a strong cappuccino. Everything looked scrumptious.
