This is a charming old house . One can imagine what SF was like in the early 1900's just walking through it. They have an elevator to reach their rooms on the upper floor. Our group was in a room on the third floor. The service was good .Since our meal was preordered it came out in good order. The... More

The front entrance is deceivingly small. It actually leads to a surprisingly large dining room. The food was good (OK, but nothing special) with fancy presentation. Unfortunately, the room is so dark it is hard to see. I wish they would turn the lights up a bit. There is so much worth showing and nothing to hide so I don't... More

We enjoyed a lovely evening here, our last night in San Francisco. A great choice. Elegant atmosphere, a great meal and lively music upstairs to cap off the evening. Highly recommend.

I have eaten and had good experiences at the Le Colonial in New York and Chicago, but not tonight in San Francisco. The service was fine, but took 50 minutes to receive my starter, a bowl of pho. My entree which was a deconstructed Banh Mi with Filet Mignon was nothing like a Banh Mi and was soaked in some... More

The venue and ambiance is wonderful, and the French/Vietnamese food offerings are fantastic, but for some reason our party of 9 had a waiter that could hardly contain his disdain. We were not loud or difficult in any way, but we ALL left perplexed by this jerk's incredibly aloof, almost snide behavior. Maybe he was just having a bad night,... More

My wife, daughter, and I ate dinner at Le Colonial San Francisco on Saturday, December 10, 2016. We shared the appetizer platter that had ribs, ahi tartare, spring rolls, papaya salad and crispy rolls. We also got the seabass, coconut rice and Brussels Sprouts to share too. Our food was excellent! Le Colonial offers many great tasting selections from an... More

Wow! their food is still amazing. Ambience, think French Vietnamese Colonial. All the food was great. This is a great place to take a family or a large group. You can hear everyone. Price was reasonable. Especially loved the ribs, we had seconds. The papaya salad was amazing. I usually drink, Long Islands, and 90 % of restaurants just fake... More

We went there for my mom's birthday. We told the hostess and our waitress this. We ordered wine and of course the wine that we ordered was not available ($65). So they tried to upsell us to a different bottle. He received the bottle they recommended($90) we didn't like the wine, so we sent it back. At that point the... More

Ate here with my nephew who lives in SF and I'm so happy he brought me here. I loved that the restaurant is located on a small side street. There is a lovely courtyard which leads to the restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive. Loved the French/Vietnamese menu. We shared the Bo Bla Chay appetizer - awesome. The Lemongrass... More
