Came here to try out the gelato... not very impressed. The flavor was good but it wasn't creamy like a gelato should be there was chunks of ice and it seemed like possible freezer burn? But could have just been a bad batch? Enter if you're feeling lucky I guess?

This is rich and creamy gelato. So flavorful! We had the doubke espresso, chocolate hazelnut and pistachio. All so good, that I couldn't pick a favorite.

Most places that sell gelato It's really just ice cream ! At Gelato Classico, it's the real thing ! What separates Italian Gelato from ice cream are 1 basic things. 1 the flavors are much more intense and 2 The consistency is much more sense and creamy . Gelato Classico has both at a reasonable price . We give Gelato... More

Small gelato destination on Stockton Street with a great selection of gelato flavors, but quite expensive and even the "large" size is rather small.

This place is right around the corner from Tony's Pizza (highly recommend). The S'mores gelato was incredible.

This is a tiny place off the main road in the Italian section of North Beach. There was a decent selection and both my daughters ordered smalls ($4.25). I tried both and I have to say I've had much better before. The flavor was fine but the texture was grainy. We were a little disappointed.

A small gelato shop opposite Tony's pizza. Serves, both sorbets and gelatos. Try a 4 scoop cup and come away very happy and satisfied. If its crowded, grab a cup to go and enjoy the sun at the park nearby.

Creamy, fruity, tasty gelatos we ever had. Clean place, excellent service. Had passion fruit flavor, very tasty, not to sweet. Family enjoyed mango and raspberry flavors, more on a sweet side. They enjoyed and want to go back for more.

Tasty, rich, creamy and yummy. Place is clean and customer service is great. Highly recommended. Small shop which gives you a feeling that they still care for what you think.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
