The French toast sampler and Washington square omelette were delicious! We were there about 3hrs total. One hour wait. We got there at 8:10AM. Come at 7:30am to hopefully avoid a line.

I am generally not a big fan of getting up early when on vacation just to stand in line for breakfast - but this family-run small restaurant is so worth it! They open at 8am - but the queue starts much earlier. Once you get...More

Stood in a long line to get a table here with some friends. But, it was definitely worth the wait -- amazing fare!

like many others visiting this place (especially on a weekend), we had almost an hour to wait..when we eventually got to the front of the queue, we chatted to the "door guide" who was one of the founding family descendants/owners and was really pleasant and...More

I've been eating for 50+ years and have had my Benedicts along the way. This Crab Cake Benedict was heaven. The crab was fresh and the sauce was perfect in color, taste, and compliment to the egg and crab. My husband and I also split...More

Waiting almost an hour to get a table makes you think that you're in for a treat, but sadly we were epically disappointed. For what we had, we could have been in and out within 15 minutes at any other cafe and been as equally...More

Only downside of this place is it’s small so you have to wait outside until there’s a table ready for you. Once inside the ordering and service is incredibly efficient and the food is amazing. The food is worth the wait

We stood in line for an hour, 50 min outside and 10 once inside to order at the counter. The service was good and food came out quickly. If you want salsa make sure you order it when you place your order and not as...More

If you don't mind waiting 2 hours just to get a table, and I know because you are travelling thru San Francisco and you can’t wait to see the town, if you don't mind being rushed to order and I know you are ‘cause you...More

We had brunch here on our second day in San Francisco. Mama’s small unassuming appearance on one corner of Washington Square would not necessarily have drawn us in but the reviews on here inspired us! We expected a delicious breakfast and we were not disappointed....More

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.

It is available all day, so you can have it for breakfast-before 11am. Even though it is listed under sandwiches from 11am- it says next to the Monte Cristo "available all day". Enjoy!

The longest wait was 45 minutes. Typical wait is 20-25. I haven't seen anyone order from the line. Once you are in, ordering, seating and food service is very efficient!

Established in 1951.
The family of Mama and Papa Sanchez, serves up traditional and innovative breakfast dishes in "Little Italy", the famous North Beach District in San Francisco. Across the street from the beautiful Washington Square Park, Mama's legions of fans line up early and throughout the day. We use the freshest of local products, imported Italian meats to fill our fluffy omelettes, homemade jam, fresh baked breads, pastries and other delectable dishes. We invite you to try our little restaurant and become part of the Mama's Family.
