This was our third visit to this restaurant in 4 years and it was still an outstanding meal! Impeccable service (delightful Hungarian waitress from Budapest), delicious interesting flavors and a beautiful ambience. Even our often picky son declared his Swedish meatballs with potato puree and...More

We were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our 2nd visit to Plaj. Friends wanted to try it so we went along even though our 1st visit was just ok. Our meals were tasty, innovative & nicely presented. Staff was helpful. We had plenty...More

All of my dishes, smoked fish croquettes, halibut, and the "Northern Lights" dessert were absolutely exemplary. The experience was spoiled by the highest noise level I can remember at a restaurant--though the tables are not unduly close together--and very slow service. All the negatives result...More

Ordered Herring, Arctic Cod & Potato Dumplings for shared main meal—fish perfectly prepared and presentation gorgeous—amazing density of complex,...More

Our food was great. The restaurant was not as upbeat as I like. We were there early which may have something to do with my assessment.

A group of friends took me here for my birthday recently. We thoroughly enjoyed the food presentation and quality! They have a somewhat limited bar, i.e. I had wanted a grey goose martini, but they didn't have grey goose. However, the vodka that they did...More

We made pre-play dinner reservations here and were very happy. They staff accommodated the schedule, though we had 2 hours before our play. Loved the cocktail selection. Food was fantastic. 4 of shared plates. I think my favorite was the Barley Brussel Sprouts followed by...More

We decided to try Plaj because we were staying with my elderly mom at the hotel and it looked like a unique place to eat. Wow! Everything was amazing, even the pickled herring, which is a bit adventurous for me. I recommend this to anyone...More

Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky
shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to
imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of
