A group of us went for a lovely brunch and we all decided it was good. The service was spotty and a bit slow. I find it a bit offensive when the wait staff is inconsistent with service. Some wait people at other tables were very attentive. Others seemed to chit chat more with fellow employees. Finally I had to... More

Nice place, GREAT food and service. I had the French toast with scrumptious homemade jam and mascapone cheese, and my son had two of the fluffiest pancakes I have ever seen or tasted. I loved the fact my coffee was served with warmed steamed milk. Service was excellent. Go early if you don't have reservations!

Was in San Francisco for work, so came to Park Tavern for a solo dinner. The brussels sprout chips and pork belly were incredible (and SO worth coming back for). The bartenders were friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and is in a beautiful neighborhood. I will definitely be back!

My wife and I were on a Saturday hike through the city and decided to stop in at the Park Tavern for lunch. The restaurant sits in North Beach adjacent to the park and has a few outdoor tables with park views. Electing not to wait for an outside seat, we chose to sit at the Chef's counter inside. The... Fun upscale place. Very busy. Hostess was incredible. Very efficient and knew the flow. We arrived early and was excellent and accommodating in getting us seated sooner. There was a "walk in" couple ahead of us who she treated with great respect and made then feel welcome and not obtrusive. Food and service were very good. Definitely worth a try.

My friends and I (party of 3) were here last weekend for brunch. We noticed that the service was quite slow. Took forever for our starters to arrive. Then our mains arrived. My friend only received half of her meal, as she ordered two breakfast items. The server assured us it was on the way. Myself and our other friend... More

Ate here for lunch recently and the food was amazing. I got the Marlowe Burger and I’m still thinking about it two days later. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Family members who live in SF treated us to dinner here during our recent visit. They had never been and decided it was a good time to try it. We researched the menu ahead of time and given its' high rating on Trip Advisor we were expecting it to be top notch. Atmosphere was pleasant, valet parking a plus, greeting... More

I was a little skeptical even though a Friend highly recommended this restaurant. But the food turned out to be good. Ordered the prawns and beef tartare as entree. Prawns were really yummy but the beef tartare was so so. Had better elsewhere. For the entrée, we had the chicken, beef and pork chop. All 3 were delicious! The sides... More

All in all it was good, was a bit shocking that the trout Benedict that cost $17 came with 1 egg!?!?!?! I've never ever seen that happen. We ended up having to order a third dish because we were.hungry! The waiter was a bit impatient, tied to hide it charmingly but ended up being quite snippety to me. I was... More

With an exciting mix of vintage fixtures, comfortable furnishings, and handsome textures, Park Tavern is an elegant spin on a North Beach neighborhood classic. Owner Anna Weinberg and designer Kendra Nicholas of Park Interiors collaborated to divide the room into unique, dedicated spaces -- the handsome marble bar, the terra cotta floored cafe with windows that open onto the patio facing Washington Park, the comfortable dining room with tufted leather banquettes, and an open kitchen with a chef’s counter. Park Tavern will showcase Chef Partner Jennifer Puccio's talents with delicious American bistro classics and emphasize seafood from a wood burning oven. From raw to fried, expect boldly flavored dishes that you'll want to eat several times a week. Serving up classic cocktails with the candor and character of an old friend, you won't find any overly fancy mixology here. But when it comes to wines, you find something for everyone!

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
