Serving everything from granola to lasagna, this relaxed San Francisco institution is a great place to meet friends or just read the paper on Sunday morning.

My husband and I stumbled upon The Grove while our daughter was auditioning at the nearby Conservatory of Music. It has quickly become my favorite. We have been their multiple times in the past couple weeks! It is a great value, and the food is outstanding. Excellent quality. They serve breakfast all day, and they also serve beer and wine.... Popped by for lunch and ordered Mac and cheese with chicken - really fast service and delicious food - one of the best lunches I've had in San Francisco. This was also really reasonable in terms of cost for the city. All in all a great choice!!

This is a must eat if you are a foodie! We had pie and ice cream every morning. All of the items on the menu are spectacular. Great service, ambiance, and service.

Nice friendly staff, cashiers, and manager. When you take a seat, get a menu and select items and beverages to consume, you must also go to the register and place your order. You pay and are given a number for your table. The items come relatively quickly. The pastrami sandwich combo and the Cuban sandwich with salad were our orders.... More

With so many options to choose from we were disappointed with this one. Looked promising - young lady serving behind counter was nice enough but our food was beyond average. Simple Big breakfast but eggs were watery and bacon should not have left the kitchen except in the rubbish bag - burnt beyond burnt. Was replaced but replacement wasn't much... More

The Grove has a great assortment of soups, salads, sandwiches and more. The restaurant has a comfortable, laid back atmosphere and the people are friendly and helpful. Pies are made fresh daily. You can't go wrong with the Grove.

Daily pies made fresh are usually a good option. The pecan pie on a recent visit was the right amount of sweetness and nuttiness. Coffee very good though not stellar. A nice spacious room and it has a sort of San Francisco vibe from an earlier decade rather than the tech boom twittery appley city it is now.

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighbourhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
