Bacchus is a small "hidden spot" located at Hyde and Union. Super small, a little loud, and very friendly. Straight forward and simple wine list with knowledgable service. Bacchus makes a great before dinner spot, after dinner spot, or simply stopover for great glass of Vino.

Tiny but a cool space. A little too expensive... If it was $1-2 a drink less, I'd go once a week rather than once a month ... Just saying!!

This place is TINY! Such a fun little spot with the red shaded lighting and the cozy bar with a couple couches. They have a great selection of wine on hand and don't stint on the pours. I had a wonderful conversation with the bartender and really enjoyed my wine and the visit. If I'm in the neighborhood I'll definitely... More

Right on the cable car route (go ahead...indulge your inner tourist) and adjacent to several good restaurants, Bacchus was perfect for a pleasant pre-meal glass of wine. The owner/barkeep quickly figured out our tastes and came up with very good choices taken from an interesting and varied list. The place is barely 12 feet wide with a small bar and... More

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
