I came here for breakfast one morning and grabbed a pastry and coffee. The staff were extremely friendly and the coffee and food was excellent.

We stopped for morning coffee and pastry. The pastries were good, on the small side. Regular coffee were very small too. Everything was good, but due to portion size, I wood probably go elsewhere in future.

Your mouth will start watering as soon as you walk in and look at the baked goods behind the glass. All things are fresh and yummy. They have sandwiches as well, but save room for dessert.

Stopped by here one day while walking back to our motel after eating lunch. Ok, I'll have some dessert! Pieces of cake were large! We ordered a couple of different to try out. A slice of dark chocolate and a slice of red velvet. We also bought a couple of cookies to take back to the hotel room for later.... More

Love, love, love their Chai Tea Latte!! So good. We were walking around the Marina and found this place randomly on our third day in the city. We went back the following day when we were in the area. David was very friendly and gave us tips on other places to visit in the city.

We walked to the Chestnut Bakery 3 mornings in a row on a recent stay in San Francisco so I could get a latte and something besides the hotels continental breakfast. The pastries are fantastic! I had an almond french toast pastry which was perfect; sweet but not sickeningly so. The lattes are great (a nice change from the typical... More

The morning buns & mochas were deliciou. It would be great if Chestnut Bakery had more Bistro tables outside, with potted plants in & out. Otherwise we still had a really positive experience.

The service and personnel are 5 star. The offerings are very good. Unfortunately for them, the bread at La Boulangerie on Pine Street (it has much better variety than its offshoots) is the best around. The selection here is minimal. I've spent a lot here, but I'm more inclined to drive to Pine St.

this is the must visit bakery of San Francisco. A bustling little place, with a HUGE bakery in back. I was amazed at the size of the the bakery behind the store front!!

Stopped in for bread and ended up with the most amazing "everything" cookie. Toffee, oatmeal, cranberry, chocolate etc. For what it's worth, my sister, a local Marina resident, won't go there because they were very rude to her on several occasions.

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
