Chef Hung is one of these hidden restaurants in San Francisco Chinatown. Locals go there for lunch and dinner. Its been at least over 2 and a half years since I visited this eatery. The environment and customer services are not high end, but deliver basic good and economic food for the late night people. They do great lunch businesses... More

Some steep steps down to the restaurant, but they have a separate handicapped entrance. Extensive menu with lunch specials. We all had different dishes and all voted they food was great. By the time we left, the restaurant had filled and we were the only Caucasians there the whole time - obviously a local favorite! Very nice servers and cashier... More

I read a review here on Trip Advisor, and was not disappointed! Great, authentic Chinese dishes in Chinatown.

Heart of China Town. Walk down steps from the street into restaurant. Like your walking into someone's basement. Loud but excellent food. Had dinner specials. Family style and pay $12.95-15.95/person. More than enough. Good variety. Typical minimal decor, but very good service.

Whenever you find yourself in Chinatown you get sensory overload with all of the various restaurants, bakeries, etc. We happened to take a leap of faith and found ourselves among locals in this little gem of a restaurant. Not much to look at, but all of our meals were excellent.

Looks like the place hasn't changed for 40years. Good old school Chinatown atmosphere. The food is pretty good, prices very reasonable and really good service. Went there with a group of friends (12) and had a good time.

We happened in for lunch on a Sunday and were immediately immersed in the local Chinese culture. If you want a China Town experience then this is as good as it gets. The service was gruff but efficient and the food was not fancy or gourmet but homey and tasty. Be aware that the dining room is downstairs from street... More

I always think a restaurant is good if it's popular with locals, and this was certainly popular! The portions were huge, great value for the money, and we had to take the rest home in a doggy bag. I'm knocking off a point for the place looking slightly run-down, but this wasn't too much of a problem overall.

Delicious garlic prawns, chicken curry more average. Friendly but a bit rushed as seemed to be heading towards closing just after we arrived. Very good value
