Lazy sleep in followed by a lazy brunch. Old school and just fantastic. Simple food done well and simply! Some old menus on wall with pickled tongue and chopped liver....mmmm wish it was still offered. Had Shakshuka with a side of pickles and a pot of tea. Wife had a cap. and bacon, poached eggs and a hash. Top spot.... More

We have eaten here 3 or 4 times now on 2 different trips. Deli style plates, wonderful corn beef sandwiches, great soups, great breakfasts. Don't let the outside appearance fool you. Need to eat here at least once on a trip to San Fran,

You can actually eat there at anytime, but I love their breakfast items. The chopped liver sandwich is also great. Not mind blowing, but a nice experience.

Wanted a good deli and heard this place was good and has been around forever. The place was not busy at 12 noon so we were not sure this was still a hot spot. Service was ok. She was pleasant but when asked what her favorite was she said she had to think about the last time she ate here.... More

We ate here before a show last month. Service was incredibly slow, the waitress forgot our order and the food was just so so. Skip this place and go to the Pinecrest which is excellent and worth your money.

Knowing the history of David's Delicatessen and its owner, I have to say I was a little disappointed with the food. Plentiful, and okay but nothing memorable. Had the matzoh ball soup- broth good with half the bowl filled with one ginormous matzoh ball that did not have much flavor. We also ordered macaroons - think their baked goods are... More

I ate here twice for breakfast while staying at a nearby hotel. There is counter seating and more traditional tables to sit at. The food was good, the baked goods were better. Morning service was so-so, each time I had to ask for coffee refills even though the counter was pretty much empty during my visits. Prices are average for... More

We needed something for the plane and a simple bagel with lox came packaged with fruit salad and everything to enjoy the meal.

David's is practically an institution in San Francisco. It's primary genre is NY Jewish delicatessen, with corned beef, pastrami, blintzes, etc. The food is solid with large portions. Two couples in our party of six actually shared a sandwich and then added sides. It was more than enough. Me - I eat a whole pastrami on rye with gusto.
