Nice restaurant in the heart of the Castro, reasonably priced, with a fun happy hour, with sexy and friendly Bill the bartender. Food is great--suggest the chicken or spaghetti.

Not the most memorable food experience, but not bad. We were sat on the ground floor and it was rather dark and gloomy (the upstairs is more hip but was sold out). Our waiter was affable and knowledgable. The food was OK. I had a cheeseburger. The bacon on top was crispy and the patty was cooked as I asked... More

We were in Eureka Sunday night for dinner. The food was delicious, we had a great window table in the first floor. Our waiter was a young guy, a bit nerdy (sorry for that) but very charming on his own way and he really took care of us. As we had great food and felt so comfortable, we decided to... More

Went to the Castro with the intention of finding a dining place. We were so fortunate to run into two gentlemen who provided several close by choices and we chose the Eureka Restaurant. We may have chosen that because of the excellent time we had in Eureka Springs Arkansas, but I digress... We started with the deviled eggs. Yes there... More

(see attached menu) never been here before. had my thanksgiving meal with my partner. its pricey for what they serve. the smoked turkey was good, brussel sprout salad tasted like cold sauerkraut, but the corn bread was decent. as with prior reviews, there is way too much sodium in their main course. even the gourd soup had a 'campbell's soup... Enjoyed a birthday celebration and management couldn't have been more gracious. We were by all accounts a raucous group, 8 of us and the way they handled us speaks volumes to their customer service. For dinner, I had sauteed fish, very fresh. We also shared several appetizers including deviled eggs, okra and amazing spicy mushrooms. Fun place to eat in... More

Ok guys, if you like salty food this is your place. From my point of view there is nothing special about this restaurant and for sure you can find better food for less price in other places. My advice.... DON'T GO... you're just gonna be thirsty at the end.. ... although, the service is really good.

Friends and I came here after a night of boozing. The staff were gracious and helpful, even though I can imagine we were quite drunk. We all had the fried chicken, which was fantastic. The mac and cheese was also very delicious. Ask to sit upstairs, as it's a better atmosphere there.

Went by the locals' recommendation and the food was quite tasty (at least at first). However I think we ordered too much "fried" food - okra, chicken liver, fried chicken - and I got a bit tired of eating fried food towards the end. Also the dishes were on the salty side for my taste. My favourite was the gumbo,... More

The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
