Went here with a group because it was possible to get a 8-person reservation at 7:30pm saturday...our expectations weren't high as a result. Food was delicious, nice cocktails and fair pricing. Didn't feel rushed by the servers even though it was packed and I had no issues hearing my dinner mates. Will be my new go-to when in San Fran.

Food was good, service was good. I had the beef with peanut sauce. A little sweet but still very good

There was a sense of being rushed by the wait staff. The food was very good but with the Tables close together and and the place being packed out, it wasn't easy to have a conversation across our group of 8 people. Prices seemed reasonable.

This thai place is a cozy hip joint. The portions are substantial and scrumptuous! Glad I stumbled into this jewel. Do make an appointment as it is a busy during dinner

Been here several times, and the food is ALWAYS the same, hot, fresh, delicious. That is a task itself in the restaurant industry and I know first hand on that one. I have tried others and been disappointed every time, I use Basil Canteen as a comparison. Reasonably priced, nice portions, fresh, hot, consistent.

Great atmosphere - vibrant. Good menu - food was superb. Very tasty. Great service - and that was with being squeezed in at 8pm on a Friday night. Would go back.

The atmosphere was fun, young, and the food delicious. Four of us ate well for $115. The service was attentive, and the menu choices were many. If you like Thai, this is a great spot.

Arrive before 7pm for $5 appetizers and drink specials. The friend corn cakes and spring rolls are great starters. It's a small pace that's not worth going out of your way for, but if you work nearby it's worth trying.

Visited the Basil Canteen twice and had identical experiences. The food quality is suburb. If you like Thai, this place is a must visit. Service both times was average. Definitely worth the trip.

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
