Like most others have said, expect to wait when you come here. We arrived at 7:00 and they told us it would be an hour and 30-40 minutes. There were a lot of other people waiting too, so we figured it must be worth it. They will serve drinks and pupus (appetizers) in the cocktail area while you wait, or you can wait at the bar if it’s not already full. We were only waiting for an hour when our table was ready. The bread is sourdough (which I don’t usually like), but was good with the guava butter. I got a Caesar salad and New York steak. The salad was great. The steak seemed like it had a lot of salt on it. But it went away and tasted fine. My husband opted for the Fish Monger soup and famous prime rib. Both were awesome! The prime rib was big enough to feed 3 people and only cost $38.99. It was literally 2 inches thick! I’m not exaggerating. He was full, but kept eating because it was tender and delicious. The staff was very friendly and pretty attentive. So yes, the wait is worth it.

My family and I have eaten here several times and love this place. Their reputation among locals is outstanding, their food is wonderful and their ambiance is simply amazing - unlike anything you will experience anywhere else. Be sure ALL members of your party get there 15 or more minutes before they open if you want a good table overlooking Haiku gardens.

Unfortunately, they do not take reservations. We got there a little before opening time in the middle of the week, however, the wait was still 1.5-2 hours. We got the Thai Fried Calamari. We were told that the "heat" was in the dipping sauce. The calamari was good and well prepared. The prime rib was huge. We got it pupu style, which means that they cut the meaty portion into large cubes. We ordered it rare and it was perfect. I must admit we were worried during our long wait that they would run out. of prime rib. We also ordered the fish of the day, since a member of our party prefers fish over beef. However, the fish was a poor choice as it lacked any taste and was not prepared well. For desert, we had a flourless chocolate cake and it was probably the best that I ever had. When we got the bill, I was surprised at how much it all added up to be, however, I can say that the portions were generous so we were full, and we had leftovers to take home. It is worth going just for the prime rib. I'm not sure it is worth a 2 hour wait. though.

View to die for, food subpar. Had to retook our steak 2 x asked for medium it came well. 2nd one came rare then they microwaved it so it was tough. For $40 they could cook to temp or comp the plate for the mistakes. You have to get there early as it’s booked and no reservations. Opened at 4:30 we were there from 3:45 waiting (steak in photo is the short rib not the whiskey steak)

Underwhelmed. Steak was under cooked & gristly. Over 2 hour wait. Beverages weren’t delivered until we asked. Appetizer arrived before complimentary bread & table is uneven. View is amazing & so are the garden grounds, but overpriced for delivery based on this experience. Absolutely at worst table here. Too dark really by seating time to enjoy the view. Spring rolls were a+, coconut shrimp 🍤 needed a sauce & were too dry plain, guava butter & bread were delicious but the entree should exceed complimentary bread. Whomp whomp Generally leave positive reviews but worst dining experience I had on our stay. Even Yardhouse in Waikiki had a digit waiting list& wasn’t hollering for people. Even my beverage is in the wrong glass. Lazy guys.

We arrived and had no idea there was a Sunday brunch. It was amazing! The view overlooking the garden area and a perfect brunch. Kudos to the man making omelets! He was randomly preparing a quick stir fried rice and offered it to me. So delicious! My husband had the prime rib and loved it. Bacon was crispy. Salads and fruits were fresh and eggs were perfectly cooked. If you’re in the area, I would highly recommend going

Worst prime rib the 3 of us have ever had! Meat tasted like it had been boiled and we ordered rare! Garlic mashed potatoes had no garlic (barely 1 scoop)! My son had to wait 30 minutes after receiving his meal for his side of fries which were cold. Not the same restaurant as before the pandemic!!! Just to add, we told our server and her response was “I’ll let the cook know”. My daughter’s treat of prime rib for her father cost $250 and she’s vegan!!!

We were greeted by a smiling friendly hostesses who gave us an ambrella and told us to wait outside under the rain for an hour to be seated. The teriyaki steak was cooked well and wasn't overcooked, but both seafood dishes, calamari and shrimp, were bland. The Paradise Pie, aka kona coffee ice cream cake for a desert was great. We came on Saturday at a bussy time, so there was a long waite list. But not everything was flavorful and tasted good. It was nice to dine on the lanai and stare at the night. We had appetizer, main cours dishes, and desert. Good Bacardi coctail drink and coffee as well. We got our food on time at same times. We ate most of our dinner that night. We dined outside on the patio. Do recommend.

We have been faithful customers for years but the restaurant has sadly declined. The view is still beautiful but the food is hit-or-miss and the management seems content to rest on old laurels. The prime rib is still good but sides served cold last week and again this evening. When I politely asked for hot ones, I was given refrigerated potato & string beans. The manager chuckled at the kitchen prank, then asked “What do you want me to do?” Covid does not excuse this behavior. Enjoy your dinner -somewhere else.

We knew when we got here a half an hour before they opened and there was already a huge line that it was going to be good. We had no idea about the ambience or the views though. The prices and the quality of food will be hard to beat anywhere in this country especially on an island in Hawaii. The prime rib was at least 24 oz and absolutely delicious we had ahipoki melted mushrooms in calamari for an appetizer which were all very good as well seafood chowder was delicious also. The wait staff was absolutely top-notch as were all of the hostesses and bussers. Check out the pictures this is an open-air restaurant and the view is unbeatable.

I reviewed Haleiwa Joe’s a few years ago. We try to come here for dinner when we visit Oahu. It is always crowded and they don’t take reservations. Negatives: The hstess needs to greet customers in a friendly manner, as though she’s glad they came to the restaurant, not as though they are harshing her vibe. The wait was ridiculously long (nearly two hours); and you can’t get dinner served at a table in the bar but you can if you sit at the bar. You’re not given this information; you have to ask a bunch of questions to find out for yourself. I’m sure there’s a reason for this, but it seems illogical. Positives: Cocktail waitress and dining room waitress were both super. Dinner was good. They do serve a huge prime rib dinner that I would have ordered had I been hungrier. I had the Sumatran grilled beef salad - delish. I really liked the dressing. My husband had the grilled fresh fish - he enjoyed that too. Parking is a bit challenging because it’s busy, but you just need to be patient. Recommend 7/10 (if you have time).

A friend told us about this restaurant and forewarned us to arrive very early due to potential crowds. We’re glad we did. We showed up at 3:30, an hour before opening and were one of the first tables to be seated on the deck with a perfect view. Our server was friendly and made us feel the ohana spirit. We ordered Thai coconut shrimp, ahi spring rolls, seafood chowder, katsu style chicken salad, local fish on shoyu, and poke. Overall, food didn’t seem memorable and a bit on the pricier side. I guess the stunning views at this location made up for our experience.

Their website says they open at 4:30 pm, so we got there at 4:45 pm. Come to find out they changed the time to 4 pm since more and more started lining up early. Our waiter said that people were lined up from 3 pm. When we got there, at least 50 people were in line just to put your name on the wait list. That took another 30 minutes. They told me the wait would be 2 to 2.5 hours, but it actually was 3 hours before we got seated. By then the prime rib was already gone. So we waited 3 hours and didn't get we went there for. So why don't they make enough to at least get through most of the night, and why don't they take reservations so people don't have to wait so long? We'll probably never go back , and don't recommend anyone else go, unless you have all evening to waste. My money can be better spent at restaurants that care about their customers.

Haleiwa Joe’s is rated #1 in Kaneohe for a reason. The gardens, atmosphere, and food combine for an unparalleled experience. The restaurant does not take reservations, so be prepared for a bit of a wait before being seated. This gives you plenty of time to wander through the lush, beautifully maintained gardens below the restaurant. You can also sit at the bar before being seated and enjoy a delicious cocktail with some appetizers (I recommend the Lime in Da Coconut with a side of calamari or the mushrooms). The restaurant sits on a cliff and looks out over the gardens below facing the Ko’olau mountain range—the view is spectacular. The food is remarkable as well. The baked fish came on a bed of rice with a delicious sweet and sour sauce, and the grilled fish came with potatoes and a decadent creamy lobster sauce. The staff was very accommodating when two of our meals came out lukewarm, and quickly brought out piping hot replacements. I can’t speak for the other dishes, but I’m sure they are excellent as well. All in all, this is a must-do experience.

Visited Haleiwa Joe's in Kaneohe for dinner with friends. Everyone wore masks until food was served. Staff were friendly and provided outstanding customer service. Food was delicious: i ordered steamed fish which was delightful and plentiful (I took leftovers home for dinner the next night) and friends ordered salmon spinach salad, beef satay salad, and grilled marlin. Waiter was very helpful. The four of us split a Paradise Pie which was heavenly and huge (plenty for 4 of us). Scenery was gorgeous.
