Easy to see why this little spot it packed with locals. Kalua pork is a MUST and the lau lau as well as the BBQ chicken plates were SPOT ON! Best cheap eats in our opinions. Next time we're in Maui we'll be back!

Our first time and very pleased. Food is very high here in maui & this is a reasonably priced meal. Really good local mixed plate food. Also chinese, but I had the local mixed plate of kalua pork with cabbage with 2 scoops rice n mac salad and bbq chicken over cabbage. Good price for the large amount of food... More

Great little place to grab an inexpensive lunch or dinner. Lot of locals eating there. Good place to go for local dishes.

Very highly reviewed spot but we thought it was okay. The fish dish was very hard and over cooked and the kalua pork was slightly salty. Still a good choice but not as great as some reviews I thought.

Sub par food. There was more cabbage than pork, the chicken was fatty, and the macaroni salad was yucky.

Found this little place last November. Good food at very reasonable prices. Nothing fancy, but the kalua pork is delicious. I had a mixed plate of Kayla pork and chicken katsu. Both were large portions and with the two scoops of rice and one scoop of great macaroni salad, I was stuffed when I finished the meal. My wife and... More

Following a local review of Top 20 Places for Local Food, we stopped by Ono Kau Kau for dinner. While a few others came in for take-out, we had the place to ourselves except for regular visits by a couple of cockroaches. The "special mixed plate" of BBQ short ribs, chicken, and pork curry, with the requisite macaroni and cheese... More

The food was Chinese based in sauce which is not local food. Not bad local Chinese food yes (a little heavy on salt) but this is not what is advertised. Don't let this deter you from local mixed plates like on the other side of the street. This was pretty disappointing.

We stayed at apartments down the road from this small but impressive restaurant. We were wandering along the road looking for dinner and missed it as it was unassuming from the front. But as we did a loop we wandered in and we were pleasantly surprised by the standard of Chinese food. It is very small but does a great... More

Some vegetarian options, mostly Standard Chinese choices; the fried bean curd (tofu) was a large portion. The mixed plate with garlic shrimp and ono came with rice and macaroni salad and was very good with mild flavors. Small dining area, but felt very local and authentic.
