The Kilauea Military Camp is located between the Volcano House and also the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory on the road known as Crater Rim Drive. Kilauea Military Camp was actually established in 1916 for a training ground for the National Guard and as an Army health and recruiting station. There are restrictions on who can stay at this camp, as it... More

We visited the military camp about a year ago. As we were visiting with someone who had militaary connections, that person had been able to call in advance and reserve a room for about $150 per night. This turned out to be a fairly simple suite with two bedrooms, a wc, and a microwave and refrigerator. this was quite a... More

The two of us had a large breakfast each before starting the day. The price was great for the portions we had. I would recommend to any in the area.

Older cottages that are well worn but comfortable. Convenient coffee shop, grill and restaurant. Food is not fantastic but it's fast and relatively inexpensive. Tours are available through front desk and are highly recommended; both price and quality.

So I realize this option isn't open to everyone, but if it is, this is a great choice. Like most other military lodging options, the rooms are pretty basic, but also clean and well-appointed. Something we did not expect is that while your room may be pretty basic, when you consider all the amenities on the "base," you are really... More

Old and historic, built by the military for "R and R" during WWII. Must be military, retired and/or sponsored by a military. Well worth it, if you can get in.

Solid value. Accommodations impeccable for this historic property; all basic needs from lodging to tours to food well met. A well-oiled vacation/R&R machine with friendly staff.

We visited the Volcano National Park on a cod and rainy day. It had reasonable prices and plenty of room. The food was very reasonable for the area with a burger being under $5.00. I gave it a 4 for the location but the food was average.

This is a classic camp for military families. You can't stay here, but you can eat. Breakfast is good and much less expensive than the lodge. There is also a little grocery store (the only one we found in the park) that is open to all.

Probably one of the best options for lodging close to volcano. Only open to military. We stayed in a nice cozy little cottage with 2 bedrooms and a fireplace. Located only about a mile from visitors center. On camp is a bowling alley, gas station, gym and small store. The food however i have found to be below average but... More
