We ate here because we were at the Suisan fish market. VERY generous portions, my partner had the grilled ahi and I had the mixed plate with beef teriyaki/hamburger/chicken fingers. Lots of rice included, we had the leftovers for lunch the next day. Lovely outdoor shaded seating, very quiet, and a view of the Banyan gardens.

Visiting Suisan was a special stop in our Hurried Schedule. We found a local Takeout right next door to Suisan. Very local crowd. Delicious plates that you would expect from local takeout. This place is exceptional! Fried Poke fried rice is a kicked up version of local fried rice. Exceptionally good katsu cooked perfect. Home style Potato Mac Salad with... More

Hash brown were not browned, just heated. Wanted to have fish and eggs and they didn't have any fish? What the heck? They are next to the fish market, which you really should check out. The food is on the cheap side but the picnic tables are filthy. Someone needs to give them a good scrubbing. I ran a wet... More

Located next to the Suisan fish market, the place is humble, small and no frills but just order the food. Try the amazing Saimin soup, try their new Spicy Poke cone, try Ahi with your eggs, oxtail soup, or a loco plate lunch. Then sit at one of their picnic tables and enjoy your food and the locals. I love... More

Went there for lunch and the food was awesome. Would go there again most definitely. I had the seafood combo with deep fried fish and shrimp and loved it.

Real home cooking, open for breakfast and lunch. Best oxtail soup in town on Wednesdays, a must see!

This restaurant was recommended by long-time Hilo residents who are Japanese. They swear by the breakfasts but I'm never in Hilo that early in the morning. (I live in Puna). I've had lunch at the The Isles 5 or 6 times and will definitely keep going back. I always order one of the specials of the day. My favorites are... More

If you like raw fish, this is your place. As for me, I went next door and ordered the cooked items from the Grind.
