Good variety of take out, local plate lunch with variations. Always go there whenever I happen to get to Hilo

As many of the reviewers have said, don't be misled by the look of the place. With just a couple of tables and a super causal feel, the food doesn't disappoint. Take it to go or enjoy it there, either way you'll be glad you...More
Puka Puka Kitchen is about a block away from the Farmers Market and was one reason to have lunch there on a hot day. Whatever you order you gotta have the garlic rice. I won't try to figure out the ingredients but it compliments the...More
This is one of those places that looks like nothing but gets it all just right. I actually considered giving up my vacation to volunteer in the kitchen to steal their secrets! They have the best fish, the most wonderful salads and the garlic rice...More

Today was our second meal this year at the Puka Puka Kitchen! We have been waiting 3 years to eat there again. They prepare everything with the freshest of ingredients and the service is great. This is a small restaurant that doesn't have many seats,...More
We stopped for lunch about 30 minutes before lunch service was over. We had Japanese Curry, Coconut Shrimp, and the sautéed lamb. Everyone was VERY happy and the garlic rice almost steals the show. This was one stop worth every moment!
