They give you a lot of food, but unfortunately I wasn't a fan of mine. I ordered the grilled Ono, and it was over coked and dry. My husband ordered the pig, and though it tasted good, was very salty and the portion size just too large. I helped him eat it since I didn't like my fish. They say... More

You will not walk away hungry from here. Great food. Great homemade salad dressing that you can buy to take home.

We have been coming to Kuhio Grill since the early 2000's and the place hasn't changed much since then and it's still packed full of locals. The food is still the same but somehow it's lost it's luster with all the great Hawaiian food places available now. It's still a great value but the next time we are in Hilo... More

After almost 2 weeks on the island, I only regret having visited this place on the night before I left! Such good service. We were served by a lovely lady named Eunice. She explained everything on the menu for us so we'd be able to make a good choice (first timers with Hawaiian food). We ended up eating Katsu chicken... More

Great Local food and friendly servers. Don't forget to try the laulau and fried rice as that is their signature dish. Clean bathroom (a must for us) and lots of parking.

Fast service with a smile, outstanding food and cheap prices. We were the only tourists in the place. Great Loco Moco

Stopped here after arriving in Hilo. Husband got the double fried loco moco, and I got the combo plate with teriyaki and katsu chicken with fried rice. Portions were extremely generous, and the food was very good. The service was also great--very friendly and warm people who feel like family. It's located in a strip mall and not the most... More

You know a place has good food if it is the choice for the local Hawaiian/ Asian fusion population for Sunday at lunch. They serve breakfast all day as well as local favorites like laulau, samain, and plate lunch! We had their bacon cheeseburger made with grassfed beef and it was perfect! The waitstaff is very hard working and they... More

"The home of the one pound laulau" does not do it justice. All of their food in ono! Service is rapid and services is friendly and courteous. The large laulau plate is enough for two hungry people and their poi is not runny. Do not miss this eating experience!

We were lucky to find this rare gem: a small unpretentious restaurant that serves delicious local cuisine. My friend had the Laulau -- pork wrapped in taro leaves, I had the teriyaki pork, and we both had a side of their fried rice, a specialty of the place. All was simply delicious, portions were large, and waitstaff were friendly and... More
