My husband I came here to get a take out because we were visiting Hilo and my husband read great review on Yelp. Shrimp chow mien for $8.95. It was freshly cooked and the volume was so-so with five shrimps. I was disappointed with my order of Vietnamese BBQ Chicken with rice noodle and spring rolls, $8.95. The spring roll... More

This is a very small restaurant that we did not know about until friends of ours took us there for lunch. The food was very good and while we were in Hilo, Hawaii we decided to go back and have lunch again. After we placed our order and received our meal I noticed that no one came back to check... More

I'm a massively huge fan of Vietnamese, and it's a shame we just don't have the Vietnamese populace here to warrant better restaurants. Reading previous reviews of Yen's, someone mentioned this is not real Vietnamese food. I would have to actually agree. Well, it might not be authentic like you would get in Saigon, but it is still technically called... More

I have been going to Yen's for several years during my annual spring visit to Hilo. I go with locals who are friends, one a very well-known and highly respected chef. Always our meals are terrific. Never saw a bug. The family teenagers are the servers. If you need anything or have a question, just ask. This is a very... More

This is a very small restaurant. The food is outstanding. It is cooked to order and is Vietnamese and Chinese. I always get the shrimp, chow mein. If you asked they will do it without MSG. Portions are large and prices reasonable.

great value for the amount of food you get. I ordered the chicken and egg roll rice noodle bowl. there's a bed if lettuce, mint, and cilantro on the bottom, tons of rice noodles and then cut up BBQ chicken and eggrolls. the fish/ chili sauce is sweet and tangy and a great compliment to the dish. they need more... Fabulously tasty food at very reasonable prices. Not everything on the menu was available, but that's because what is cooked is extremely fresh. Haven't had this good Vietnamese food outside Vietnam.

The fo was good, and the taste was pretty good. Looking at my broth, I see a green onion with a leg on it....uhh it was a cricket leg. Lost my appetite after that. They grow their own herbs outside the restaurant. They could at least wash their veggies out well before serving. They didn't charge me when I showed... More

no real atmosphere, but always good Vietnamese home style cooking. Family owned and operated. A standby.

This was a great meal at a very reasonable price with a very laid back feel. It is definately worth a visit if you are looking for a laid back meal. The interior is very simple and I would say it is great for nights when you don't want to get dressed up for dinner!
