We drove to Kawi to eat at Bamboo. It was o.k. but not especially eventful. Lots of people were dining this day at this restaurant. Difficult to find a good restaurant that food is worthy to talk about and a decent price.

We have visited this restaurant each time we have been on the Big Island (sometimes we've eaten here more than once per visit!) and the food is always delicious. I ordered the Hawaiian Barbecued Pork Sandwich this time and it was absolute perfection! The lilliquoi...More

I loved the egg rolls and the Mac Caesar salad, when I got them. Sadly, though, the Single Woman Ignoring Syndrome was in full effect. I know it’s not intentional, but it’s time to wake up to this unconscious prejudice and bring it to an...More

We were on the Big Island for about 10 days. We totally loved Bamboo! We arrived to Hawi not knowing what we would do so we shopped a bit and then got hungry. We peaked into the restaurant, but it appeared to be closed. It...More

For many years and many times we have driven to Hawi to lunch at Bamboo Restaurant. We are never disappointed. It is a memorable Hawaiian experience. The energetic and attentive owner, the staff, and the “traditional” hula dancers all add to an experience not to...More

I have never been so disrespected as I was here while entertain international guests. I was deeply embarrassed, not so much for myself as for that kind of treatment in our town/state/country being demonstrated.More

I KNOW Karin (small town) and I have written to her, apologizing and trying to find out what happened. Rather than respond, she chooses to leave up this "appalling" review, thereby showing "disrespect" toward us as she ignores my attempts to communicate with her. Thankfully,...More

If you are nearby Hawi, make sure you stop at Bamboo. The food is excellent, everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The Hawaiian pulled pork sandwich was so flavourful. The salad dressings were made in house and were wonderful. Lunch started at 11:30 and there was...More

After being here on the big Island for one week my family and I were able to come to Bamboo two separate days for brunch. The pot stickers are out of this world - we got them to share the first time and the second...More

Pot stickers were excellent, Fish de jour was ahi steaks done the old fashioned way. Very nicely done. Great steamed veggies. Get the double for $4 extra and share with your best friend. Soso maitai and give the papaya salad a miss.

So glad we stopped at this restaurant before heading back to the East Coast. Besides a warm, authentic vibe and charming music, service was impeccable - the owner is particularly charming - and the food was wonderful. Started with the best Pina colada ever, had...More
