We went two nights, and both nights the place was packed. First night we were there around 5:30, and got the last table without a reservation. Second night (a Sunday) we had a reservation, and good thing, because everyone without one had to wait awhile in the adjacent TV room of the hotel. Service is quick, drinks are reasonable (Bloody... No this isn't a five star hotel. But it is comfortable and cheap ($72)! Do you need extra frills and amenities. Don't think so. Beds are comfortable and they have a very good restaurant. For a 100 year old hotel, it is kept up. We'll be back again.

I liked it. Room and restaurant. Quaint, personable, inexpensive, accommodating, comfottable. But, beware, it is a long walk to the beach, 1500 feet down and two miles across. Actually, lots of people do. The trailhead to the Captain Cook Monument down at Kealakua Bay is nearby, half a mile.

I've stayed in many fine hotels in various places, but few stick in my head the way the old nostalgic ones do. Manago Hotel on the mountain road in Kona is one of those special places. It provides basic service and is clean and modestly priced but the best thing about it is the ambience. Right out of the 30s... More

Stayed here for a couple nights. Basic, clean room with panoramic views. Had basic breakfast at the restaurant and was friendly service.

Old hotel furnishings shows it's been around 100 years. The place is not pretentious - just basics. Service friendly and accommodating - large portions of sides like corn, green beens and coleslaw if that's your kind of thing. The opakapaka is a snapper i requested mine to be seared in garlic butter as the other option is breaded - it's... More

You could not find better pork chops anywhere , I rate all pork chops I've ever eaten against Managos. This is a family style restaurant that's been in business for over 80 years. It is a local favorite with very friendly staff

They serve side dishes family-style: Asian seaweed salad, macaroni-potato salad, canned corn, etc. You order a main course off the board. There are several different types of island fish, nicely-sauteed. House specialty: pork chops smothered in brown onion gravy. Comfort food. We ate here a couple of times. Prices are cheap by Big Island standards.

The hotel was nice and clean. It was a "no frills" hotel, meaning no tv and no air conditioning, but the windows have louvres and get a nice breeze. It is a perfect location and a beautiful view of the ocean. I would stay here again. It is convenient to Kona.
