This place has rave reviews from locals who suggested it to us. Although we loved the view, the food left us feeling nauseous. Expensive and it was not good. The coffees tasted burnt with a hint of cleaning chemicals. Not what we expected at all!

Okay, this place should be #1 in Hawaii Island for breakfast. Classic cliff house with great food and an even better view. Service is fantastic. Buy a t-shirt and sport it back home. People know this place across the world. Used to be a hidden gem, but the secret is out so check it out. No better place.

On our last day of our trip we decided to venture to the Coffee Shack. We've had many subpar meals while staying in Kona and everyone was a little nervous to try another place. Upon arriving the outside looks very shack like. When you go in, there is two seating areas. We sat in the back and we're lucky enough... More

The Coffee Shack may be a little out of the way if you are staying in Kailua, but it's worth the effort. The food is very good (I had a Fish Benedict and my wife had a papaya-based breakfast dish which she said was tasty). The staff was polite, prompt, friendly and helpful. But the thing that steals the show... More

This was one of our first stops after reading reviews on this place. Our party of 8 was seated immediately for breakfast and the service was good. The location with the ocean view was beautiful. The breakfast was also very good and worth the trip.

This restaurant has an excellent view, good food. The Lilikoi cheesecake is out of this world, as are many of their other desserts. It is a big tourist destination and very crowded. If you go during regular meal times, there will most likely be a long wait. Don't expect the best food ever - although their food is very good,... More

Go early. We drove by once in late morning and wanted to go, but parking is limited and it was crowded with a big wait (not very many tables). Unfortunately you have to get a table, there isn't a bar to sit at and just drink coffee. On our second visit we were successful. Great views, great coffee. Ordered a... More

The outlook from here was brilliant. The food was delicious. However, if you actually want a good espresso coffee, this is not the place. They advertised a double espresso, but we got a horrible bit of probably filter coffee in a regular size cup, and three small creamer containers. They obviously don't know what an espresso is. In hind sight,... More

We ate a late breakfast here. The food and coffee was amazing as were the views. One stand out dish was the tropical paradise breakfast with papaya and coconut, so good. Atmosphere is great, and service was perfect. Dining highlight of our vacation.

Unique local spot. Just seems to hang over the cliff. -Great view. Food was very good. My wife just had eggs, I had the Hawaiian french toast. It was delicious . It was busy but service was excellent.
